Was going to buy a 3pc set at Wal-Mart for $30. A BIG step up from most of my other kitchen knives.

Unfortunately, every single 3pc set I looked at had cracks in the scales! Went through all six of them, then had to pass.

Chicago Cutlery are all made in red China now. Another American tradition bites the dust. Take care.

You can probably find some old U.S.-made Chicago Cutlery knives if you visit a Goodwill or Salvation Army store a couple times. What I would suggest instead is to go to www.macknife.com and get a UK-60 chef's knife and a PK-40 paring knife (total 52.50 plus shipping). This is a much higher performance choice. The alloy is like AUS-8W containing vanadium and tunsten. The blades are thin and cut like razors. Two really good knives are better than a bunch of second-rate blades.
