Kettle Morraine sounds like it fits that bill being away from high traffic areas.

I'm looking into the backpacking sites at Kettle Moraine. I will when I get some info.
 
Kettle Morraine South can be crowded, but most of the RV folks head to the Ottawa Lake Campground. The backpacking sites are remote enough, though.
 
Milwaukee INFI hound here... I've been to both of the Kettle Moraine areas and both are nice. I might consider pulling out some INFI if you guys get up this way.
 
What are the fire rules for Kettle Moraine? Can we harvest trees on site? Have open fires?

The JRE boys (I think) want in on this one to so add a few more bodies to the count. :D

At the backpacking sites (you have to walk in off the Ice Age Trail), each site has a fire pit, some kind of pit toilet, and a rough shelter. I will look into the harvesting of wood thing. I wouldn't think that would be a problem, because I can't imagine people bringing in their own wood on a mile+ walk in. The sites accommodate 10 people. Tell the JRE boys that I was already expecting them.:thumbup::D The sheath that they did for my Cultie was incredible, and I really love that packable strop.
