Chicken of the woods, growth progression

It's not recommended to eat it if it's growing on pine and especially hemlock. I took a photo a few days ago of one growing on the north side of a dyeing walnut tree.

A little experimenting with the hen of the woods. I dropped afew pieces in some hot olive oil. Sauteed for a few minutes then added a touch of soy sauce and rice vinegar. It was delicous.

One of my favorite wild mushrooms.

Came up on a jackpot a couple weeks ago in the Sierras, highest up I've ever found them.

I'm still on the lookout for one of these. I have yet to see one but I'm sure I will eventually.

Enjoy and thanks for the pics!

I wish I had found these fresh. There is probably 20 to 30 lbs of chickens on this log. There are a lot more not in the photo. I didnt pick any because they are getting old.
