My 6 yr. old son and I have been doing a little traditional archery shooting here lately. We have really been having a lot of fun. Apparently my 3 yr. old daughter has been watching. Well she started hounding me for her own bow. But any old bow just wouldn't work.

I found a thick piece of hickory board that was plain cut. I have never made a bow of any kind before (outside of the stuff we all did as kids) so this was an experiment of sorts.

I laid it all out and came up with what I thought was a pretty good looking bow. Not good enough. It wasn't pink. Off to town to find pink woodstain. That was no easy task but I think I did okay.

Her pink "girls knife" is in the picture with her "girls bow". It may not be long before she is hitting the woods with us.

i just showed this to my wife & she loved it. she mentioned your girl is "TOO CUTE" congrats & nice job

great stuff Shawn.. she is a doll.. :) that's a cool looking little bow and knife..

Thanks guys. She has me wrapped around her finger pretty good.

Barberfobic1992, I may swing by for a few minutes. I don't know if I'll get to look around much though. I'm taking my two kids and my two nephews to the backwoods outdoor show. We'll see how well I hold up after that.

That is so awesome and Pink is my wifes favorite color too. She wants me to make her a knife with pink handles to. By chance where did you get the pink handle materials to make the pink handles on her knife?

Bryan

Bryan, I used pink G10 for that one. The bow was just stained with alcohol tinted with red dye. If your wife wants something more natural you might look for some pink ivory wood.

I think AKI has pink G10. I bought the stuff I have last year at BLADE.

My daughter keeps switching back and forth from pink to purple being her favorite color. Whatever the color of the day is, it HAS to look like it belongs to a girl though.

SDS thanks for the info. I have looked at the pink ivory on the catolog but have not gotten any yet. What is AKI? do they have a web site I could look at with the pink G-10?

Bryan

Sorry, that was supposed to be AKS (alpha knife supply) but after checking their site they don't have any. I know I've seen it somewhere. I'll look around and if I can find it I'll let you know.

i could give you my cell # so if you end up swinging by, you could give me a call if you wanted to meet up and chat for a few minutes. if you are wanting to.

Love it man. My little girls are always pestering me to go shoot. I got them a Martin tiger compound bow. Their still a bit on the weak side to get a steady pull.

How much edge is on that knife?

The knife doesn't have an edge on it yet. I figured I'd have my hands full watching out with her handling it with a pointy end. If it had an edge she wouldn't be ale to handle it.

It is fun to watch company get nervous when she brings them her knife to show them. It stays locked up in the gun cabinet but she sitll likes to show it off. She told me what she wanted on her "girls knife" and showed me on other knives I was making. For three years old she can be very picky.
