Chill-axin with the Machax-in ! Post your Machax pics & thoughts here.

Damn clich ive got some serious machax lust after seeing those pictures!!!!!!! Damn...............

I cant get over how narrow the blade gets! It looks barely wider then the 11/14 blade in the spot a few inches ahead of the handle. Sure has a lot of ''beefiness'' out near the end tho!

Wow.....That Was quick........Clich are you doing smething to speed the chemicals up?.....Both are looking good......Never thought I would see any one turn a Machax into art.....Never, Ever, EVER.......Sure do like it though......

Pa you must have afreaking tired wrist if you did that, that fast, by hand.....

Ethan

Nothing special. Except telling the family that there is no conversating until the machax is done. The wife's pretty understanding about it. Now if you will excuse me I gotta get this kink out of my neck and shoulders. That couch sure isn't comfortable

The Machax has landed. Wow, it's smaller/slighter than I expected.... the thickest part of the Machax is about the same width as the BK9, and of course the weight distribution is much different. Intriguing! Can't wait to get out in my woods with it.

Probably will post some pics later today after work (I work from home)....

I wanted a BK3 in my truck... Now I kinda want one of these instead...

where are the pix of someone wearing this thing in a leather shoulder-slung cross-draw rig?

lol there should be a contest to see who gets the first ''stripped & modded Machax'' thread up ;)

I'm workin' on it -- I'm workin' on it! The 4's arrived at 12:30, one is stripped and DuraCoated already (by 4:30)! Just waiting for it to dry. You'll see it tomorrow! :D

Oh, alright. Here's a teaser from the drying rack:

Took it out for some quick choppage on a break I had earlier today (sorry still no photos). I will say this knife feels in the same ballpark as the BK9, but it just seems to fit in my hand better. I love the forward balance of the kukri style, it DEFINITELY gives more power/mechanical advantage for chopping. In addition, the angle of the blade gives the thumb a very natural resting point where the jimping would be -- though I'm glad there is no jimping there. And the narrow blade near the handle (where the choil would be if it had one) gives a surprising amount of very fine control.

Chopping was definitely an upgrade from my BK9, and I haven't even put a convex edge on this yet, it's just the factory edge. The forward weight of this knife, along with the snap cut technique generates surprising power. The factory edge is probably the sharpest I've yet seen from Kabar, but it's still not as sharp as a good, fresh Fisking will give it. The factory edge is sharper near the handle; the closer you get to the tip the less sharp it is. Will have to fix that for sure. :-)

The sheath is.... pretty good. Feature wise it's the best yet from Kabar/BK&T. I'm not crazy about how the bands snap around the handle, this was the same issue I had with the BK2. But it's usable, and I plan to get new leather pants from one of the makers on this board at some point anyway. Considering it came with the knife, at this cost, I certainly can't complain.

All in all, I think I have my new favorite Becker! I'm stoked!

FUUUUUU If mine isn't there when I get home tonight I'm setting myself on fire!!!!!

Got mine, and the one I bought for my father in law looks like it should be sitting on his patio in Mobile, AL by the time he gets home...

Weird thing, when I opened my box, the knife was already in the sheath...there was no paper sheath or any plastic at all in the box...not complaining at all, just used to them being seperate and what not...I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it yet, but when I do there will be pics....

My four 4's (does that make 16?) all had the typical white cardboard sleeve -- not in the sheath. I think you got a factory second! :D
Look close -- maybe Ethan's signature is on the box someplace...
