chiming

What does it mean about a blade that has alot of chime versus one that doesn't? that is, if you tap it and it makes a chiming sound versus a dull thunk.

From a physics standpoint it just means that the blade resonance frequency is in the human hearing level and sounds like a chime. I would think in most cases, especially folders, that the handle would dampen the sound and alter the frequency to a thud sound.
