thank all of you for paying your attention to me,a chinese knife-making lover.i respect and appreciate the disign of the Spyderco hole a lot, especially the hole.i think it is full of spirit.i didn't mean to compete with those large companies.
i'm now working hard to improve my skills and i think i will develop my own design in the near future.

If by Spyderco hole your refering to the cleaver, don't see how a hole to open a folder can relate to a hole in a meat cleaver.

There realy isn't anything new(or at least not much) in the world of knives. I feel as long as you give creadit to who or what inspired you and don't directly copy it your OK. Say you make a Loveless style knife. Call it a Loveless style knife. Give creadit, but don't limit yourself.

Nice pics of the blade bending. It's amazing what a good differential heatreated blade can stand ain't it?:D

I think he's pretty safe on the cleaver hole. I remember seeing holes in meat cleavers in those old Bugs Bunny, Road Runner, Tom & Jerry cartoons as a kid. I think it was originally a way to hang the thing on the wall.
This guy seems all right to me. I wish him luck.

first, clean the surface of the knife-blade.second,use wax to cover the place where is needed.then, coat it with acid.when the surface is reacted with the acid, wash off the acid.after cleaning up the unnecessary things on the surface, you are finished.

Yeah, I have a cleaver in my knife drawer with a hole like that.

The Dragon Claws in post #13 might be a bit derivative of Fred Perrin's designs, but nice work, nonetheless.

I thought it might be wax. Thanks for sharing. Just make your designs like you want. We all borrow from somewhere:thumbup: AS long as there not mass produced you will be fine I think.

It's natural for artists to be influenced by one another. I think the best policy is to openly credit your sources (as will52100 said). It says a lot about your character when you do so, and I don't think it detracts from your reputation as a craftsman. The quality of your execution speaks to that.
Plus, it's dificult to have hard feelings for a guy that's maybe borrowing some aspect of your style, but is giving you the credit.
