China Manufacturing

just on the made in china thing- couple of mates came round yesterday. I happened to have my good socket/ratchet set out for some home demolition. I was questioned as to why I had a good set rather than the ubiquitous M.I.C. junk. The cheap one fell to bits. Its all made there -these are just made under license & better quality. Its all made in the same factory anyway.
Yes said Doesburg but these are made by the sighted people & the cheap crap is made by the blind -cruel but funny none the less.

China will take a LONG view [40-50 years?] on there path to world donmation....Not many labor unions, envernomital laws ect...I would feel sorry for them if there wasent so many..

First of all, we Chinese do not need you to feel sorry for us. ;)

Second of all, what the fuck do you mean when you say 'if there wasn't so many...'

"When one dies, it is a tragedy. When a million die, it is a statistic."

Anyways, please provide where you get your data from that leads you to conclude it will take 40-50 years.

What does this have to do with BUCK knives???

I personally do not buy chinese BUCKS anyway......quality is probably OK.....but there is just a mental block with me. BUCK is as all american to me as apple pie, so the thought of getting an actually BUCK knife made in china just doesn't seem right.

I do realize however 90% of everything is made in China in some form or another......so there is no way all workmanship from China is crap......but I would sure like to see the USA and other countries not be sooooo greedy and take a little less gross profit to get people to work and get some pride back in their respective countries.........

Again I understand the chinese will work for pennies on the dollar.....and I get that companies are in business to make money......but when you are just padding the bottom line at the expense of your own workers that in my opinion is wrong.

I was very happy to see that Buck was going to try and bring back most of their production to the U.S. I will contiunue to support BUCK knives with my dollars (as I have for 20+ years).....and hopefully this american icon can continue to make profits here..

LONG LIVE BUCK KNIVES USA.........

Found this on the evil auction site and thought it might be of interest to Forum readers:

China Buck Knives

China Buck Knives first turned up at Wal-Mart. They were folding knives with dark walnut look wood (Unknown Wood). The specs say 420HC? They look good. They have the Buck Guarantee. There are now folders with red jigged bone (limited edition). They are here on ebay, Trappers, Stockmans etc. The word China is on the back of the second blade? Does Buck think these are Collectable? Can knife collectors collect China Knives?

To take this more or less back on track, Boeing is only thinking of doing what Airbus has already done. Airbus built an assembly line to build A320's in China.

Both companies are looking at China as they would look at any major resource or customer. Mainland China has a tremendous need for aircraft. Both Airbus and Boeing want to sell to China. Like many previous countries, the Chinese want planes partially built in their country and will use the desires of aircraft builders to leverage that.

Parts of many aircraft are already built in China. Including parts for Boeing aircraft.

Now personally, I think this is bad for the US economy, as well as for Airbus and Boeing, in the long term, but from a purely near term business perspective it does make sense. And, lets face it, strategic long term planning died when the finance geeks kicked the engineer geeks out of mahogany row.

All this is only news to those outside the aircraft industry. Those of us inside the industry have known about this for years. Douglas Aircraft started looking at making parts in China in the 80's. Didn't work then. But it is happening now.
