After loosing boo-coo sleep over could I live with a "made in China" Buck knife, I finally just took it back. Figuring that I swap it out for a "Cadet" I got to looking and thought I'd better put my money where my heart is and support Buck's USA operation. Bottom line, I got a Stockman, a Cadet, a Companion, and a Lancer. Happy with my addiction, I'm now sleeping soundly and contemplating what will be next.

Good on you.

Now, take back your television set and buy an Olevia brand. Then, take back your vacuum cleaner and buy an Oreck. Next, you'll need to target your computer, sell it, and buy a Van Elgort Information Systems (VEIS) brand. Until then, I recommend any of these over-the-counter sleep aids :D

You have a good point, but having Buck knives is more of a luxury, or a want, instead of a need. If he doesn't want a Buck from China, that seems fine to me. American made knives are getting harder and harder to find.

Don't forget your keyboard........

Active Ingredient in Baxter's Recalled Heparin Made in China

The involvement of a Chinese factory in the production of a recalled drug raises the continued concern regarding Chinese-made products. According to the Wall Street Journal, China is the “world’s largest producer of active pharmaceutical ingredients.” The Chicago Tribune states that FDA is not required by law to inspect foreign manufacturing facilities but makes it a general rule to do so. FDA admitted it had not inspected the particular Chinese plant due to a mistake in paper work, but plans for the inspection of the plant are under way. The agency has requested that the facility provide inspectional data and adverse event reports regarding the possibly tainted drug. Critics say that the failure of FDA to inspect foreign manufacturing facilities continues to put consumers and patients at risk.

Plano tackle boxes are made in the USA by Plano Molding Co. in Plano, Illinois. That's the only brand of tackle box I've ever owned. Great products, good prices, and they're available everywhere.

(Some of their small organizer containers are imported.)

I agree with Peter...and, somewhat, with Decaf Dave.

Don't "need" a Buck...well maybe I do "need" a 110. But I have a few non-Buck fixed blades that I could use that are US. I collect ("accumulate") Buck for some reason I can't figure out. I don't collect PCs radios, TVs, pet food, or baby formula. But I collect Buck knives.

So, I want an American Buck. Your everday consumer may care less, but I am certain many consumers are surpised when they look at the tang stamp, if they even do. Nonetheless, they keep and use that knife for their chores.

Good job Snot.

You're saying you NEED your television? Sorry, I'm in the camp that says a good knife is more of a basic need than a television, vacuum, computer, etc.

Besides, I was just giving the OP some grief over his professed lack of sleep. :p

Dang.

Griptillian much? :D

For the record, all of my Bucks are USA made.

awww.. geeze guys .... yep that one was so far misspelled the spell checker could not fix it... but you got the idea ;)...
Jermany... hum that is one i had not seen yet! but it works for me ...
i am one of those that remembered the worse (worst) of different approaches to spelling and haveing a country accent, why- beeing told to spell it like it sounded jest did not work at all fer me dont you'al kno... :p

.... A knife is only as good as its blade; and the blade is only as good as the heat treatment/tempering process. ... An inferior steel that is heat treated properly will outperform a superior steel that is heat treated improperly.

wow have you got that right!!
could not have stated it better! ;)

I have a Buck Iceman that I bought over a year ago and when I got home I noticed it was made in China. The knife is to heavy to tote around alot but what I have used, it has been pretty good. Im not taking up for China but still for the money it was ok to me. Still I do support American Made Products all the way and I wish Buck was made in American only.
