A co worker of mine got cable installed yesterday and the installer forgot his pocket knife.Of course it was made in china  But it had an Axis lock on it  Isnt that design exclusive to Benchmade?

I suspect this'll be moved to general discussion soon, but anyway before someone else says it, they don't abide by our patent laws over there, if you buy a lot of knives at flea markets you see alot of these type of knock offs around but all ya have to do is pick it up and you'll notice the difference.

No Axis lock here, but I did pick up a copy of a Greg Lightfoot DA auto at a Phenix City, Al flea market. Bolster lock or thumbstud, it seemed to be an accurate cheap copy. Still fires, but its a lunk to carry.
The Chinese do not care at all what they copy.

the name on the blade was maaxam, or something like that?
the weird thing is that it said made in china and company USA,IE out-sourced
american design made in china.
BTW the knife was a peice of crap,I have a 940 osbourne and the precision doesnt even come close to Benchmades.(I'm happy to say)

Oh yeah, I like the new moving truck !

The Maxam knife is also marketed by MTech, and is available with the handle trimmed in red, blue, or green. I saw one on eBay a while ago, and thought about picking it up because I like the buck/Strider design, and it had a 440C blade. But alas, I forgot about it. Search for MTech Extreme (or Xtreme) on eBay, and you'll find it.

If you like the Buck version, BestKnives.com has them fro $46.95 (they were $44.95 not too long ago). I've had good dealings with Best Knives in the past:

In 420hc? Not sure which one is supposed to be the chinese knockoff.

I am sorry, I am not up on the metalurgy. Is that bad? I have a BM in 154CM, blade seems to be a good one.

I want a non auto knife, but I don't know what I should buy......

The search engine is your friend. ;)

420HC is a low-end steel, but not as bad as 420J2, the most common steel in el cheapo knives. 154CM is a high-end steel (one of the best out there IMO).

Its basically an entry level steel. Its less than desireable to most of the crowd here. Not every here is a steel snob, but most people usually look for more performance than the low 400 steels. 154CM is right in the middle in terms of performance.
