Chineese $1 Credit card knife-tool

Think about this for a minute. $1 tool ships for $3 from Hong Kong. You want to give these people your credit card or Pay Pal info? I smell scam or at the very least a piece of crap tool made by commie bastards that are trying to make our country broke. Why don't you try to make one yourself? Sure it will cost more but think of the pride you will have in that tool!

Lol, you are funny. Indeed it's very cheap for me but who knows maybe it's a day’s wage for their workers. As for fraud concern, I don’t know, the seller has decent feedback and I don’t think it’s possible to crack somebody’s paypal by just receiving a payment.

g'wad!
this pattern must have been around for the past 25 years at least.
and they're all made in china.
it is in fact marketed by the british survival equipment specialist, BCB.

ages ago, there use to be one twice it's size.
which, by all things measured; gave better performance due largely by the fact that it could be held on to more securely and gave better leverage.
but since it was rather heavy and overly large for a wallet...only the small remains.
and being two sizes smaller, such a tool didn't quite deliver as well.
in fact, it found new life being marketed wholesale as a corporate gift premium.
btw, earlier on in the made in china tools battle, it lost out to the knock off pliertools in terms of actual utility.
on the whole, it's a painfully slow to have to work this tool without getting injured.
understandably something patient jailbirds would be good at.

Bought about 20 of them to give away, got them off a local seller though, got one in my wallet, works ok.

"Tinbasher".
was it purely coincidental that you posted after when i did?
honestly, no offence intended about "jailbirds";
after spotting that "Australia" was your listed location.
btw, there are some models with a hard plastic case sheath, with part of it moulded onto the tool to snap it lock which keeps the edges from getting nasty during storage.

So would you say that http://pocketwrenchtool.com/ is a better quality or about the same?

As a machinist and wrench monkey I dont think those would last very long doing the intended task.

I have the Pocketwrench II, and it's actually well made. The 1/8" steel seems to have proper hardness for the task, and it's definitely not some pot metal common in Chinese cheap trinkets. It's not comparable to a real wrench, but a dedicated wrench is not exactly pocketable. In my experience it works better at turning hex nuts & bolts than pliers.

I will be skipping on Chineese version and go with pocketwrench instead, the price is still a bargain comparing to $100 atwoods. Thanks.

Between the PocketWrench and Atwood there's PocketToolX. Just giving you more options.

The link is the best, the picture of the tool about to pry off a screw cap of a hip flask. And the sound advice at the end:
"Periodically apply a few drops of oil to the moving parts"

For my needs, these types of wrench are near useless. They have little bite on any particular nut or bolt, and if any significant force is applied, the tool and/or the nut tends to get damaged. Sure, it's pocketable. It's also only really useful on nuts and bolts that I can already turn by hand.

They had that same card/tool at Radio Shack before Christmas as a stocking stuffer. I picked one up for 1.99 for the hell of it, threw it in the glove box. I wouldn't spend any more than that on one of them.

Oh Yea, I just can't wait to drop my money on that piece of junk:barf: You might be better off buying a wrench and a good SAK. They'll last you about half your life and will really work well.

Yeah, a grabbed a couple on closeout a week or two ago for .77 or something. Was hoping to put in altoids tin fire kit to use the edge as a firesteel scraper and have a few extra "functions" available. Havent tried it yet, so cant report. Had one one years ago that was made in Germany (i think). I remember that one as being better made, but could just be my faded memory.

I bought one on ebay for $0.99 with free shipping a month ago and it's alright, I havent actually needed to use it. It seems they just tried to jam as many tools as they could onto it and it makes it awkward to use....But I guess its not bad for the price....The Pocketwrench is pretty handy and It would hold up way better.

Now I sometimes carry a good quality small adjustable wrench if I think im going to need it, and I almost always have my wave on me so these small tools never really get used.
