Chinook 3 vs C95 Manix

I'm 50/50 on either a flat ground Chinook 3 or the big Manix. I have owned the large Manix previously, so it is a known quantity. I use my folders for hunting/fishing/general outdoor use and although my self defense considerations are there, that is a much lower in priority in the reality of my day to day life. Wouldn't the Chinook do everything that a Manix can? Do these knives have a different feel? Which would you pick if given the choice? I like the size/weight of the Manix so these are not issues that would turn me off.

The Chinook may be better suited for skinning game ,but either would do as an outdoors /heavy duty knife.
I don't have the Chinook 3 ,but i do have the first & second versions ,as well as the manix & would give a slight edge (excuse the pun ) to the chinnok for a hunting knife.
The manix feels bigger in hand to me though.
Just my opinion ,of course!
Hope this helps.
regards,Rick.

I have a Chinook III and the edge is quite thick. As is it will take a beating, but won't cut nearly as well as most Spyderco's.
Though you could just thin the edge if you want better performance.

I asked the same question in a thread about a month ago!

It was a great thread with a lot of really useful info and great pictures.

(Ended up getting a Chinook 3...then, of course, a Manix.)

i have a chinook3 and two chinook1's, i recently sold my manix beacause i just like the chinook line better...

the grip - better
the look- meaner
more useful- IMHO eg- its a better SD choice than the manix.

By the way, does anyone remember the private investigator tv series from the '70's called... "Manix":D.
I cant quite remember the actors name.. Conrad i think. Anyone ?
