Found one on e-bay. Payed way to much for it. It was 440V steel. I carry the III all the time, and consider it the best knife I have ever carried. Will I like this one? Hope my bib overalls will hold it up!
The Chinook I is interesting for a lot of different reasons. It is the only one of the Chinook models that have a swedge on the top end of the blade. They did away with that on the Chinook II.
The Chinook I is somewhat heavier than the Chinook II or III. Some guys however like that aspect of it. It is probably the most collectible of all of the Chinook models for several reasons and one being it is probably the rarest of the bunch. It is also I think the only Chinook model that was made with 2 different CPM blade steels i.e. 440V & S-30V( only on a few of the later models).
The Chinook models have a place in my heart because it is one of Spyderco's Golden COLORADO USA made Spyders. The Golden made Spyders in my opinion are some of the toughest and most durable Spyders period. It's a great knife if you like that blade design.
