WOW!! and I thought we had it bad downunder. I Paid NZD$280 (roughly $140. USD at the moment) for mine about 6 months ago.
....Mind you our dollar was a bit healthier then.

I agree with the above positive statements. The Chinook III is my favorite knife I own or have owned. It has unparalleled lock strength, one of the best handles and a beautiful blade shape. It is also so well balance in hand.
