Chipped my bk9! Help!

Belt sander.....

That would definitely work if you don't mind losing that much metal. But its that or leave it. I have a "mini" BK14 I sharpened on a belt sander and am embarrassed to even post what I did to it. Luckily I have a worksharp now to use on my new BK 14.

If that were my knife, that would drive me nuts. However, looking at it objectively, if this is a dedicated chopper, that chip won't impact it's ability to do that job at all. I think it looks hardcore. "I'm such a badass, I chipped my knife. Wannafightaboutit?"

Keep that 9 around as an all-around beater or as a loaner and get another 9 (or a Machax) to replace it if that notch starts to drive you crazy.

You now have a sighting device. Leave it.

heck, if it's still useable, then who cares? LOL sometimes we gotta screw-up to improve!

thread-winning post right there!

Its still useable. Its not tiny, I just turned it back into an izula 1. Screw it I will go grab a pic, post it up in a few.

Here you go TB.

This was my first Becker knife.Pretty bummed about it. I didn't do this in one day. It was over about 3 months of sharpening a couple times a month. I made sure to never get it hot, used a cup of cold water and dipped and never let it get too warm to touch my face. I didn't realize what I did until I won a new bk14 from moose in the Gunyon incident. As soon as I pulled out the new one it became very obvious what I had done. Since then I got a worksharp and convexed it and still use it a lot.....around the house. It really rattles in the sheath now too.

Mauser is experiencing shrinkage. hehe j/k

Its not bad looking. I think the first knife I ever tried to sharpen ended up looking like a Machaxe. That was dull. It was like a professional dulling.

I didn't recognize there being 2 knives in that picture and was trying for the life of me to figure out how you did that to your knife... I figured it out, it's 2 knives. DUH!
