Chis Reeve VS. Strider

I am looking at the same two knives to buy right now Strider v. CRK and I am loving the Large Lefty Sebenza with Micarta for an EDC, it is just like part of the hand and the f n f is ridiculous on all that I have seen.

with that said if I shipping out to the sand box tomorrow, it would be Strider RC with a tanto blade. Striders are built to do a little of everything (the sharpened pry bar), the Sebbie is built to cut.

CLO1 has a point - it's not that obvious looking at a Sebenza to understand the materials and workmanship. But is is obvious looking at a SnG what extra features you are getting - if they are important to you.

What I've always found interesting is how the two are considered so close that help is needed deciding. I'm currently thinking those who ask are just missing the visual and worded clues in the descriptions. Being relatively new to knives, they need more fundamental explanations to sort out what it is they are looking for. They don't have the technical back story to fill in the details.

Now if they asked, "I'm trying to decide between a high quality and aesthetically pleasing urban knife for office use vs. a rugged duty folder for extreme environments, and made with similar advanced materials and modern lock," well, gee, we'd all recommend a William Henry or Hinderer, but no, right now it's good ol' Seb vs SnG.

Same thing tho, the knives are meant for different duty and for different people. We should keep asking questions about how it will be used, not short circuiting the discussion with fit and finish vs. sharp prybar.

Most aren't dummies, they'll think fit and finish is everything, but if they are going to use the knife hard - say, pipeline duty in Alaska or the Sudan, would Sebenza owners still recommend it? Would fit and finish even be considered then?

I went back and took look at someof the SnG' and while tey may not allow as much knife to stick out, it is still too much for me.

The AR is not really the problem to carry that one woud think. The foldover clip I set up for it places the entire knife inside my pocket and all you see is a black clip on the outside of my pocket, and the clip is only 2" long. The only problem I would have with the thickness of the AR wouldm be if I wore some skin tight pants:eek:and that ain't gonig to happen!:D As it is the knife sits in my pocket as easily as my Sebenza, except the AR does pull the pocket down a little bit, but nothing that is noticable to other people, or to me.

Lycosa, I may contact STR about making a couple of tianium clips, like the one I currently have on my AR. I made it from an old steel clip I had!
