Chisel grinding 3v before or after heat treat?

Hello everyone,
I was planning on ordering some 3v from Aldo soon for my next batch of knives and many of them are going to be chisel ground. I read that some steels warp with a chisel grind in heat treat and I'm wondering if 3v is one of them.

The blades are going to be about 6" long and made from 5/32 stock, if that makes a difference. Also I have a single speed (fast) 2x48 grinder so I'd really rather not have to grind it post heat treat if possible.

Thanks for all your help,
Drew

You should be fine either way. To me it gets tricky with long, thin knives or full flat grinds with no shoulder. 3v is stable in heat treat even with a thinner edge.

Alternate between the grind and the opposite side... keep the heat even and try to keep the knife cool even before heat treat.

Thanks Daniel, just the advice I was looking for. Also I forgot to say that I will be sending them to peters.

Daniel is right. You shouldn't have any trouble with 3v and Peters does a great job of keeping things straight.
