I know, that title was a cheap trick but I got you to look. These are mammoth bone scales and handle sections. They are very nicely colored, chocolate brown, light and dark hues. These are an inexpensive alternative to ivory or teeth and still get some of the beast in there. Mammoth bone is very stable, probably the most stable natural handle material there is, it just plane stays where you put it. It polishes up like ivory except, there will be no cross-hatching.
I have had this bone for a while, it is good and dry. I wiped them with some oil finish to show the richness of color they will have when finished.
I am happy to answer any questions about the stuff or working with it. It is guaranteed to be legal, happiness is guaranteed, if you find you can't use it when you get it in your hands, return it for your purchase price back, please do that within seven days. I take all the normal forms of payment, Pay pal, checks, or credit cards over the phone. The prices shown will be plus shipping, I ship using USPS flat rate shipping where I can, I ship anywhere it is legal and charge only the actual shipping charges.
You may PM me, email me or call me on the phone (though sometimes I have loud machines running and can't hear it).
Thanks for looking.
I sanded and polished No.8 to give you a good idea what they would look like finished.
The scales were all cut from the leg bone wall, the width of the scale was the thickness of the bone wall. One edge of the scale was the pith side (inside) of the bone and the other edge was the outside. Thats why they show colors that graduate from dark to light to dark again. These bones were thick.
