Choices, choices, choices, for deer season. Let's hear from the hunters.

I use my anorexic Basic 4 and I love it. It slices very well. Not too long when inside the cavity. The handle retains grip even when wet or blood covered. I also like the flat end of the res c handle. It comes in handy when striking it with the heel of my hand to break through the breast bone. Its just a good, basic, comfortable knife with excellent geometry

A lot of great choices listed here. Quick question with the VEX are they all D2 steel ? Or are current releases Sr101 ?
Always liked the look of that one and thought of getting one for my Dad for hunting.

The Bacic 4 should get the job done however, from experience, my Infimandu did a fabulous job last year especially butchering. The longer blade made cutting thin strips for frying a breeze. Just my opinion as many knives can get it done. I can't say enough good things about the Infimandu for all around work task and skinning, butchering. Its my number 1 go to.
