hey guys, im in the market for a new pocket knife, but i just dont know what to get. what im looking for is a closed length of 4-4.5 inches, and i really dont like plastic handles, but love g-10 and micarta. itll be used for an edc. would like to keep the price around $100, but i can go a little higher. ive been lookin at the combat elite rrf, al mar nomad, spyderco mini manix, but just dont know. thanks a lot guys.

If you can still find one, the Benchmade 710 McHenry & Williams in M2 steel is considered the flagship model of the Benchmade line. They've recently discontinued the M2 models in favor of D2, but of the two steels the M2 has superior edge retention compared to D2. With the M2 steel, the recurve edge of the 710 can't be beat.

Or of the knives you are looking at, the Mini-Manix would have my vote.

I have the manix and i cant say enough great things about it. Its perfect. I dont see how you would be at all dissapointed with the mini manix

i really like the looks and everything ive heard about the mini manix, but my concern is if will fill up my pocket, it looks like it would be really wide in the pocket, not thick but wide. also the 710 is a beautiful knife, but i think its a bit too long for me being 4.9 inches, but ill have to go look at one. ive handled a bm 732 and really liked it, but can i still find one is the question. thanks for the responses so far.

Thanks to the author of that site, I was hooked and the 710 was a MUST HAVE for me which I just fulfilled a few weeks back - thanks to the M2 model being discontinued.

Also, thanks to the author; I discovered the Bladeforums.

I don't have my 710 near me to measure, but it's on paper (everywhere I've looked) as being 3.9". The handle is slim and narrow; you don't even notice it in pocket. Also, if you don't have an Axis lock knife you should check it out. Very smooth action, ambidextrous; highly favored!

Good luck hunting!

ya that mini persian looks pretty good. one thing i really like about spydercos is the finger choil they have, it makes the knife fit in my hand so much better and just feels bigger. i have a benchmade 707 right now, and its a gret knife, just too small for me, my pinky hangs off and i dont like it, i like the size i just wish it had a finger choil then it would be perfect.

I have to agree the 710 HS was recommended to me a few weeks ago by members of the forum and I bought one. It's a great knife , fit and finish is beautiful and the blade is extremely sharp out of the box. It does have a slim profile and you hardly even know you're carrying it.

I think you need the 732. I just got mine a few days ago and boy is it a great knife for EDC...it's the perfect size at about 5 in. closed. I'm sure there are still a few places out there that have one or two in stock, you just gotta look.

As for the 710, you can't go wrong with it. I have it's little brother the 705-401 and it's also a dandy. That axis lock is just so smooth! As a matter of fact, i think my next one will be the 710 just because of all the recommendations.

Better act quick!
