Nice idea! I definitely have to go with the Queen Whittler out of these choices, but the GEC would be a nice choice as well.
 
The number 10 SAK ALOX PIONEER X. It be the most versatile of the bunch.

He might like the number 11 A. Wright and Son Ettrick, too.

Unquestionably he would probably like the GEC Trapper, as well - if he likes and uses multi-blade knives, at any rate.

I'd have to flip a coin:
Round One; best 3 of 5:
The Pioneer X
The A. Wright and Son Ettrick.
(you pick which is tails and heads)

Round Two; Best 3of 5:
The Winner of Round 1
The GEC
(again you pick which is heads and tails)

Choose the winner of Round Two for him.

Since I have more than one potential pick, I did not vote.

EDIT:
If he don't like or use multi-blades, that would eliminate the Pioneer X and GEC from the equation, leaving the A. Wright and Son as the sole choice, thus eliminating the need for the coin tosses.

Looks like I got here too late, but I'd have recommended the Tribal Lock which wasn't popular with participants.
I bought a Triabl Lock once, even though it had many features that weren't really "my cup of tea". Turned out that it's an amazingly desirable knife! The whole is WAY greater than the sum of its parts!

Ed, I voted for the #73. :) I will admit that it might have been self motivated because I don’t have a 73 in the Black Box Bone. :rolleyes: I’m glad to see you posting and you have my prayers for a rapid recovery!
