Definitely popcorn for me, especially after seeing the scales on Trand's JBFChamplin #92 Eureka Jack.

As said above with some wear the Amber #1, will probably be more attractive.

I like them both and have more of the #1 than I do the #2 ~~ so as 'the Cats Meow goes' I would say the darker the better
but if the popcorn pops up I am not against getting it just because of that.! I would be out some nice knives if I did that.!

I really can't choose a favorite either, Jeff. I really like nice gnarly popcorn stag the best, but as far as color goes I favor the rich, darker tones. So... both!

I like a natural red stain from when they've been rubbing on alder bark, if applicable. As to texture, I can go either way.

Im often mistaken, so take this as conjecture. That antler was made black with Potasium Permanganate, and the orange colors are burn marks, either from fire, or just from holding it on a buffing wheel long enough to burn.

#2 is closer to I would expect to see with pocorn stag and is REALLY A NICE LOOKING KNIFE.
#1 dark amber is just plain COOL.

#1 is my FAVORITE.

That's a tough one, as I wouldn't say no to either one of those sweet knives. If pressed, I'd say #2 but only with the smallest margin.
