Choosing a boot knife/dagger, suggestions welcome.

Have a look at the A.G. Russell boot knife. It's a really cool little dagger made with excellent materials and it looks as sweet as ever possible. If I could summon any possible use for this knife I'd already have one in my boot...

I placed an order for the new EK Spartan as well last night. I've wanted a high quality dagger for quite a while now I was pretty much set on grabbing the George dagger but the EK Spartan won me over with the piece of history in the hand guard and black n gold

Nice score on the Spartan!

Any knife with dual/double edges turn my crank LOL...

My small collection of DE blades; two custom dags left and right of center.

Nice collection Czechmate, is that bone handle on the 3rd knife from the left ? Anyway it's sweet looking.

My boot knife is an Eickhorn SEK-M. Eickhorn is a bit unknown in America, they're a German brand that from what I understand is very well respected in their home country. Some of their knives are standard issue in the German military.

The SEK-M is a marine knife, a navy knife, a diving knife. It comes with a forearm sheath. You can use some strips of double-sided Velcro to make extensions to be able to wrap the sheath around your leg. Or you can have a custom sheath made, which is what I did (from survivalsheath.com, their ankle sheath).

It's a bit shorter than the other knives being mentioned. It's also a bit less expensive. As far as I know, no US retailer imports and sells Eickhorn knives, but they're readily available new on eBay. The SEK-M is usually around $300. It's a very sturdy, high-quality knife.

That looks pretty sweet, except I'm not into the serrations. Any idea of what the blade is made from ?

I ordered my Spartan/EK in evening of 4-19, my order was shipped the very next day and was in my hands by 10am on 4-21. No complaints on the delivery service.
The package was sealed up tight, wrapped in brown paper with the ends sealed up using Spartan stickers, making it obvious if anyone tried to tamper with the package. The knife itself was secured from bouncing around with bubble wrap and they included a hand written "Thank You" note in the package.
The knife itself is a beauty, a serious looking blade with a great feel and balance in my hands, it feels like an extension of my arm. I would be very confident this blade would keep me safe if need be. All in all a great purchase from Spartan. !'ll be getting one of their Silver Spartan Helmet beads and para-cord once they are back in stock.
This is a great looking and feeling knife that was made proudly in the USA from USA sourced materials by proud Americans. Bravo !!
I would definitely do business with Spartan Blades again.

Alongside my EDC which I used to open the box.

:D

It's N695.

The SEKs all have serrations, I believe. There is a newer version called the SEK-II which is the same shape and size but it is a single-edged blade. It does not have serrations.

They have another SEK called the SEK Damast which is dual-edged just like the one in the photo, except it has no serrations. But it's quite expensive at 950 euros. I believe "Damast" is German for "Damascus" or something similar...its described as having 300 layers.

Eickhorn also has some other longer daggers with no serrations, they are similar in shape and size to some of the longer daggers presented in this thread.

Mammoth Tusk no-less...Wow !! That is a beauty, if you ever wanna sell it.....
Both are awesome, but Mammoth Tusk:cool:

Mknopfler congrats and awesome to hear how you like your EK and see the unboxing pics, thank you! I placed my order on the evening of the 19th as well and my EK will arrive tomorrow, I haven't been this excited about a knife purchase in quite awhile now, I've been gun purchasing Ar-15, Walther PPQ .45 the past few months, I'll go back n forth between my interest of guns and then knives every few months. I'll post up my pics when I get the EK, if I can figure out how to post pics on here for once lol CHEERS

I checked out the Eikhorn Damast - amazing looking blade. The tightness of the grain in the Damascus steel is beautiful. With that blade I'd have to get a custom handle made for it though. Maybe mammoth tusk....;)

I have two old Gerber ones I took one of them into the Army with me. It is well used and still great. They have always been hard to put a edge on them though but who is slicing..

Well JJaggar we have similar taste in collecting things then. Is there a knife & gun porn thread here on BF ?
I'm sure you will be happy with your new Spartan / EK at any rate. Those guys made a great looking and handling knife. even at over 9 ounces you don't notice the weight so much when it's in your hand. I'm guessing it's the balance point/weight distribution being done right. Certainly "I'm no expert" and this is my first double edged dagger type blade, but I couldn't be happier with my purchase and supporting Spartan and EK proxy Kbar.

There certainly is a guns n blades pic thread on bladeforums, I just can't figure out for the life of me how to post pics up here like you did with your EK unboxing Mknopfler, if you don't mind I may pm you and ask you how cause I been trying and it never works

I went to photobucket.com and made a free profile. You can upload any pics or short videos you want to your collection and folders you make on the site. Then by simply clicking on the pic once it's uploaded you can copy and paste the url to the forum. It's actually real easy and totally free. Feel free to PM me if you need any help getting familiar with it.

Dammit, see that's what keeps happening..ok I downloaded flickr gonna try that ugh technology

Both of those blades look great and no slippage with those handles I bet. I hate to show my ignorance, but I'm still learning who all the real good knife makers are, who made your blades ?
I'm much more familiar with firearm makers than all the knife manufacturers.
