Choosing a karambit for EDC

I have done research on the Matriarch and the Civilian, and found out that the blade is designed for only cutting flesh/organic stuff and is purely self defense. In fact, they are only supposed to be used a few times (eg 2-3), and then I believe they have to be resharpened. I know that a knife is not high on the number of choices one has when they think of self defense, so the Civilian and Matriarch would not be number one for me.

The Tasman Salt also looks close to what I am looking for and I might consider it, however I am looking for a more 'traditional" karambit
 
I'm pretty sure that EDC Knives is the sole carrier of the current production runs. I'd say try the secondary market but haven't seen one there in a long time.
 
Depending on any maker or small production company is always a crap shoot. But I also wouldn't go running out spending money you don't have. Save up and if they're available when you're ready, fine, if not, there will be something else available that you'll love.

I'm going to go ahead with the 5.11, and save up for a time to get the Bengal, or whatever is available down the road
