I apologize because I am sure that this is already a topic on here. However, I do not have the time to sift through a million pages. I am looking to buy a Mora for combination duty when I hike, etc. What is a good suggestion for a reasonable price?

thanks

any of them ;)

really, you can't go wrong with a single one, but you would probably be better off with a plastic handle unless you want the asthetics of wood or you want a laminated blade.

i love carbon, but i hear the stainless works great and its carefree...

just pick a handle shape that looks good to you, and go for it. for $10 or $15, it is hard to go wrong.

There is no choice, the answer is the 510.

I would say get the 510 its cheap and it works. But as Siguy said you just cant go wrong with any of them. Find the one that floats your boat and get it..

Ok...next question...anyone from Central TX know of any dealers that handle Mora? I have never seen them and would like to get a feel for them first, despite all the praise I hear...

I like just about all of them. You can't go wrong with the 510; it is a safe bet. You might consider getting more than one just to try some different ones since they are so inexpensive. This will save you shipping because once you get one, you'll just want another to try out. :D

My personal favorite is the 780 Triflex.

the 510 is my favorite. It's a great knife overall and has held up really well.

The thing about the 510 that distinguishes itself from the other models is the handle. It is comfortable and secure when wet.

I'd like to pick up a 545 for the boat.

I like the plain wooden #1. But the 545 is growing on me. The stainless blade works as well as carbon steel. I have a couple of the models with guards and they work fine, but I personally gravitate toward the guardless models for actual use.

My first two were the Wood Handled Laminated No. 1 and the Blue Plastic handled SS Clipper. Both have performed very well for quite a few Big game hunting trips.

Dougo,

Mora's are an addiction and everyone here is in denial. You buy one and that's just the start. I'll put my vote in for the 780 Triflex. As mentioned they are all good performers the big difference is between carbon and stainless. The carbon knives take a better edge IMO, but they will rust as the SS blades are easier to care for in the field.

Regardless of the style that works for you the place to get them is Ragweed Forge. Mac

Another vote for the 510!
For only $10, who cares about handling it first, if you don't like it, throw it in the toolbox or tackle box for emergency/rough use. As others have mentioned, the shipping at www.ragweedforge.com is the same no matter what you get, so you might as well throw in a wood handled one while you're at it.

The 510 is great. The laminated #1 is my favorite of the bunch. Also, if you want to drop a little more cheddar, pick up a Mora2000. Great all purpose knife.

I have to put in another vote for the 780 Triflex.:)

bensbackwoods.com is another source.

Ive dealt with bensbackwoods.com and I have had great service fast and dirt cheap shipping. They dont carry as many models as Ragweed forge but they have the most popular ones: 510, Clippers, 2000, SWAK, Triflex etc.

780 Triflex--The blade is bigger and thicker than a Clipper. I use a Clipper in the kitchen all the time though.-Carbon all the way1--KV

They're all good, but if you want to get fancy and spend the big bucks (like $25.00) go for the 2000. I also like the #1 a lot.
