Choosing a surface grinder wheel?

So I'm looking for a new Surface grinder wheel. The one I have now gives a really rough finish and i'm looking for something that will give me a nicer finish.
I think that Aluminum Oxide will be the best way to go.
What hardness and grit should I go for?
Thanks,
Chuck

The rule of thumb for hardness is: hard steel-soft wheel, soft steel - hard wheel. Since we grind both in knife work I usually compromise with a "I" or "J" hardness wheel.
You should get a nice finish with 60 grit if you keep it dressed and find the best rate of cut and in-feed for your grinder.

My wheel is any grit combination of a 2 x 72 belt. I converted to belt 2 years ago and absolutely love it. True I do not grind to an accurate ten thousandth but I can hold well withe one thousandth with it and that is close enough for knife work IMHO. See my conversion on the shop tour at www.billsblade.com

I picked up some wheels a while Back just because I got them for a good price, :)

I have not used any of them yet, so I'm not sure how good they will work..
they are
7 X 1/2 X 1 1/4
WA 46 J 7 V
#42306
RPM 3600
Chuck if you can use one of these shoot me an email, I won't use them all..
