choosing between firearms

I have a Marlin m1 carbine 22. I think its the same as the marlin 60 with just a shorter barrel. Ive had it jam often and the trigger pull is heavy. I also have a Nylon 66. I cant recall it ever jamming and the trigger pull is a lot better.I have not fired the 66 much. Its pristine and Ive been reluctant to hunt with it.

I am more of a fan of the bolt and lever action 22s personally. Choose whichever one suits you best. Again, I like the CZs. I have had a 10/22 for many years and it is an OK gun, but I have come to prefer 22s that are not autoloaders.

What's your recommendation on a bolt action ?

For me personally it'd be easy. Between the 2 choices, it would be the .22. Everyone should own at least 1 .22 rifle. The 12ga with standing..its prolly the most practical gun of all. Cheap practice/plinking. Small game hunting. Varmint control. Mid size game with the right ammo and shot placement. Countless deer have been poached by the mighty .22.

With subsonic ammo, it can easily be made very quiet if ever needed(SHTF scenario of some sort. there's something to be said regarding hunting squirrels undetected with nearby suburban neighbors).

I've gotten aprox 10k of .22 over the last 4-5 months at Cabelas, Midway, Gander, and Sportsman guide. Cheap prices can be had as well. Just gotta be vigilant.

Ten thousand rounds? This is why we are having a shortage right now.

"We"? I've experienced no shortage. In fact I sold about 30k .22 this past summer to less fortunate friends. And cheap too. I've stocked plenty of my calibers of choice since the early 80s. Always have always will. Its absolutely the only smart thing to do if one has firearms. Especially now, considering the current and ongoing anti gun climate. A gun without ammo is just a funny shaped club.

Its all about priorities. Everyone has the same resources I have. They just chose to spend their money on other crap instead of putting some toward some type of stash of ammo. Its not my fault you or anyone else got caught out.

And 10k of .22 is nothing.

10K cartridges is nothing. Just two cases. Billions are produced annually.

As an aside, "we" aren't having a shortage. I've got just shy of 20K under my bed.
