You might want to post this on the general forum.
However, if you're willing to give slipjoints a try there are several small models that pack far more utility than you'd think.

Peanuts are great, very pocket friendly. I like the ones Case makes, specially their CV one with red bone, but the SS isn't that bad either.

A bit bigger than the Peanut but still light and comfortable to carry, Case's Sodbuster Jr. is a lot of knife for little cash. I've got lots of more expensive folders, but my Soddie Jr. somehow manages to get some pocket time, even with the hard competition.

You should take a look at the Victorinox Alox Cadet, as well. It's slim and light, but it has some nice features (screw drivers, cap lifter and can opener) besides the main blade. The regular Cadet comes with a nail file, the Cadet II has a small blade. The copper alox Cadet is really nice, quite different from the regular red handled SAKs.

Of the two that you mentioned, I would go with the Cricket. It's thin and light, with a frame lock for a solid lockup. The Cricket is VG-10, while the KISS is only 420J2. I've handled both, and for me, the Cricket is easier to hold and use. The locking on the KISS is a little harder to manipulate, and it always seemed as if a tight hold on the knife was going to disengage the lock.

Cricket. I've had KISS's, they are ok, but there have been problems with the lock overtraveling. Never got cut from the exposed edge, but sometimes clicking it in my pocket made me wonder what was I doing!

Of course, I carry a 4" Ti Framelock, and just acquired another, can't imagine how I got by with anything less . . .

i would choose the cricket as well, I really like that lil knife, and that curve in the blade cuts like the dickens. Usually you wont go wrong with spyderco.

420J2 doesn't hold a candle to VG-10 in terms of edge holding ability. Given your choice of two, I'd vote Cricket with no reservations.

The Cricket is a great choice, but for a more comfortable grip and more utilitarian blade shape (IMO), check out the Dragonfly.

I have the stainless steel, plain edge, Cricket. It's a great little knife! :)
