CHOP OFF VIDEO: NMFBM vs FFBM vs Himalayan Imports 18" AK

Nice to see I'm not the only one that likes the M65 jacket!

Couple things:

1.) My sound card is dead, so I couldn't hear the commentary, so if you covered these things, I didn't hear it.
2.) Through hardening isn't really an advantage when chopping, since the sweet spot for a BM type knife is just before the edge sweeps up to the point, so you're really only using a very small section of the blade to chop with. IOW, I don't think it makes a difference in this experiment.
3.) The whip motion works just as well for straight blades as it does for kukri, and at the end of the whip motion, you wrist should be at near full extension, and you should have the grip just locked in before impact. This always works better (I know, I've done the experiments on wood around my yard that full size axes bounce off, but I could chop with a knife or kukri (sloooooowy). Oh, the whip technique also works for tomahawks, much to my surprise. (Kukris have revolutionized my chopping with almost all my tools.)
4.) It's no surprise how much better the FFBM and NMFBM did

Now, if you just had a MOAB to put up against this   :

MOAB....

Sell the house, the truck, the wife, the kids and a kidney.... LOL

Well this looks to be a win for the NMFBM ... I am going off the third U tube link title and a few of the posts .... sadly when I click on them I get a first minute of decent service and then things start to go slow and out of sink ....probably my telephone lines/junction are not able to offer a very good broadband service .... I know my photobucket link up has gone "real slow" as well ....

Anyone able to offer advice on how best to view them please speak up .... can I download them to view off my hard drive easier? Any help appreciated ... I would love to see how things went ...

If you download them they will play better if you are having trouble. They are in HD and pretty big.

Also, if you hit play, then pause them and wait for awhile until your computer streams them they will also play better.

Just Hit play then pause, wait for about 5 Mins then hit play and it will work fine. That works better if your Internet connection isn't that fast. :)

Great vids, more fuel to the fire that the NMFBM is the best chopper out there.

I'd like to see the look on the face of the next person to find that chopping log.

Thanks for the tips .... just got the first one to fully work ....:D

No problem, glad you got it to work out. :D

Yes it's a beast of a chopper, but it's also good for smaller work too because of the fine edge.

I am chopping it up like that, then I will turn it over and finish the other side so maybe it will finally start to rot through. :D

Hey Ankerson, I've got a FBMLE and its just to pretty for me to beat up. Do you think you could see it in your heart to help me out, with my problem? :)

Or turn it onto it's end and whittle it some more into a primitive totem pole? You would be the first to whittle a Busse totem pole that I know of, maybe throw in a dog and a rat to add to the theme.
