I, for the benefit of all HOGS out there, have finally gone and done it...
THE CHOPPA-PALOOZA

On the block

I started out by test cutting paper. I did mess up on the FMB paper test but the results are...

Fallkniven A1
Cold Steel Kukri
NMSFNO
FBM
KZ2

Ok to be fair I have spent the most time sharpening the A1, and I knew ahead of time it would win. That knife bit me earlier too, Pics to follow.
I was surprised about the CS. I have not sharpened it in a long time and I have had it for years.
Remember this is subjective and I am splitting hairs on sharpness here. But lets move on... The Chopping...

I started out on this tree which I am sure someone can tell me what kind it is, I will call it the about to be chopped green leaf skinny tall tree.

I could not get the A1 to stick. I will never verbally bash that knife though it is amazing. I think it had to do with the geometry of the blade. It is very superbly convexed and batons like a champ (better than my FMB) But otherwise the results are as follows..

KZ2
FBM
CS Kukri
NMSFNO
A1

Now for the real stuff...

Again, I am eagerly awaiting pics. The suspense is killing me!

Maybe I should go sharpen a knife or something and just come back later?

I hit the tree a specific number of times. In reverse order from least productive chopper to most productive...

A1 30 hits

CS Kukri 30 hits

NMSFNO 30 hits

FMB 30 hits

Killa Zilla 2 14 hits

You may be wondering why only 14 hits with the KZ2. Well it was my first one and it chopped the tree down in 14 hits.

AMAZING AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

I did a review on the KZ2 and was disappointed with the results when it was stock. So I went for it and modified my expensive chunk of INFI, ( I have never done this either) and I am so glad I did. AMAZING AHHHHHHH!!!!!!

After the chopping I did another paper test. The results are
A1
FBM
NMSFNO
KZ2
CS

I was amazed the FBM seems to have gotten sharper after it got warmed up. The A1 is still shaving sharp, but the CS seems to have a noticeable reduction in edge. Still sharp but it felt sluggish on the paper.

So the winner is...

Me because I own them all.....

The KZ2 is the best chopper. It bites deeper than my axe at home. I was amazed how quickly the tree came down. Next best was FBM. It is a flat grind and I have sharpened and stripped it. I think that it would have taken the tree down in less than 30 hits if I had used it first. I bites deep too.
Then the
NMSFNO
CS Kukri
Fallkniven A1

The NMSFNO is a great general purpose work knife, which is how I use it. It has seen the most work of all of them around my house.
The cold steel Kuk stays in my car. It is pretty cheap so if it is stollen I would not be as mad as if the KZ2 got taken. And it has a sheath which sadly the KZ2 does not.

If anyone wants to donate a sheath to the CHAMPION CHOPPER, It would get great use.

The A1 is still my go too knife for hunting, backpacking, and killing goats... (that is another story) It is light and batons like a champ.

The best combo would be KZ2 or FMB and my A1. A1 on the hip and either of those strapped on my pack and I would be ready for anything.

Ok well not really. So I was driving out of my driveway after doing all the chopping, and the city gas company was blocking the road. I thought that they lost the keys to the truck but in fact the pipeline was connected to the trailer and they did not have anything to cut it with. The man asked me if I had a hacksaw and I told him no. He said it would take 30 minutes for the other guy to return with a saw. I asked him if the cut need to be pretty. He said no.... AHAHAHA

Killa Zilla in hand he had the audacity to ask me if it would cut the pipe. HA was done in 9 swings. and that my friends it that.

Nice review, can't believe how much difference it made to strip/resharpen the KZ:thumbup:

Nice review
I totally agree on the NMSFNO be a great all arounder, it is definetly one of the chosen few.

Very nice review.

I especially liked your innovation of the paper slicing before and after.

My best guess based on the few chewed up leaves in the pictures is that it is a redbud, but the bark doesn't look quite right. Oh ya, nice knives.

enjoyable reading, man!
Thanks, now I have an itch for two more Busses, now....
KZ, and NMSFNO

The gas guy was impressed. He did not think that a knife could do it. BAHH. He was not to keen on me taking pictures of it and asked not to tell where it was. For these guys to not bring a saw to cut the pipe is kind of crazy. But we all forget things from time to time. Lucky for us all, I didn't forget the KZ2. That is the definition of a USER KNIFE. Trees are great but my challenge to all is to really test BUSSE knives by using them on other stuff too.
