Well my 18in Ontario was just a little longer than I liked........so out to the shop! Now it is 14 5/8 long in the blade :) More suitable for my needs now. The handle had previously been a D guard model but a little trimming and reshaping and now it fits my paw a lot better. Gave the edge a little more length by grinding a little closer towards the handle. The bevels were convex ground too. At first I was going to leave the tip square but decided to give it a rounded albeit blunted shape instead. I like to be able to use the tip for diggin so I wanted it shovel shaped. I did sharpen it all the way. Figure it aughta be sharp all the way. I think this will work a little better than my 12inch model without being too long. Gotta make a kydex sheath for it soon so I can get it on the pack. The folding DMT sharpener is new to me too. It is a black extra course model. More like a file than a regular sharpener. Just about perfect for machete maintenance :) I am gonna try and mount it on the machet sheath I think so they are together when needed.
