To satisfy my curiosity and get some awesome pictures in the process, I figured I'd make a compilation thread with lots and lots of wonderful pictures of our wonderful choppers. I've got some designs floating around my noggin and hopefully I'll be able to get some inspiration and make sense of them after checking out y'alls favs!

Post some picture(s) of your favorite chopper(s) and write a line or two about why they're your favorites.

I'll start.

Busse TTKZ - it has outperformed anything else I've tried!

If this thread is in the wrong place, I apologize!

No chopping fans out there? Or perhaps the thread would have been better suited in General Knife Discussion? Dang!

That's a pretty pic!

I don't have anything like that, but I do like a heavy 8" blade with cross-over quality's.
The main advantage as I see it with the 8" blade, is that I still can beltcarry it in somewhat reasonable comfort.
Larger knives will travel in the backpack and might as well be left aside for an axe.

For me it's more fun to actually carry my knife on my person in the outdoors.
So that's why I choose to show my Fällkniven Odin, perhaps the No.1 in my collection!

I actually have surprisingly few photos of all of my machetes and choppers. I really need to snap some pics soon. For now, here are a couple I have on hand.

My Baryonyx Machete prototype:

Very apt name! I've had both the S1 and A1, liked both. I just prefer a ~4" for small work and a stupidly large one for the rest :) I love the aesthetics of the Odin, gorgeous!

Condor Viking:

I believe this qualifies for the stupidly large category! :D

20" blade in 3/32" stock. It's one heck of a tool and has been a constant companion for more than 5 years now. :)

What do you use the backside of the Viking for? I normally don't like the backs of my machetes sharp because of safety.

It functions like a hook for brambles, woody stemmed plants, lush vegetation, etc. etc. It's an outstanding feature and you're very unlikely to injure yourself with it. The edge on the back of the Baryonyx machete is for the same purpose but you still get a section for batoning, gripping for use as a draw knife etc. and the bifurcation of the two faces gives you a means of pushing brush out of the way like an extension of your arm.

My favorite

Nothing yet has out performed her, and she is easy on the eyes

A few runners up for the top spot

There are some large choppers here. My favorite choppers aren't as large as some here, but they're up to the challenge.

Here are my only 2 choppers...Busse MOAB and a SYKCO 1311. Look for a chopping comparison soon on these two

That looks awesome. Gimmeh!

That wood looks amazing. What type is it?

That is stabilized redwood burl

Who made these?

The top Kukri is by Busse ( it's the Test team model that I rehandled)

The second kuk ( third pic) is my Himalayan imports and is called an " Ugly Villager Knife"

The final blade is a Fiddleback ( I believe Imacasa makes them) that I bought as a blank and put a walnut burl handle on

How often does Busse release chopping style knives? To the best of my knowledge they only do limited runs and then move onto another design.

Those are two awesome blades; a comparison/review would be sweet.:D
I haven't received my two 1311's yet... :( Soon hopefully.

Here's what I've got right now that I really like:

Three midlength choppers; Swamprat Chopweiler, Busse Team Gemini Light Brigade are the users followed by the newly arrived Swamprat Ratweiler (just got it, but it is sweet and will be a great user I'm sure!)

My polished and convexed tan Scrapyard SOD is still one of my all time favourites though; it is amazing even though it's only a mid-length blade... (top one in this pic)
