Chopper Design Contest... This will be fun:thumbup:
Over the years I have designed literally hundreds of different blade styles.
How about a design from one of you.

Here are the Basics:
Steel being used will be 3/16" 1095 that is 12" long and 3" wide, it can be smaller just not bigger. Needs to fit in a 3" x 12" space.
Grind can be Flat, Convex or a Hollow grind
Prefer a full tang design to keep a better balance in the handling.
Handle material??? Prefer G10 but could do Stabilized Wood.
Someone will need to Pony Up for wood scales
Bolsters can be done as well
Done in Stock Removal method

Submit a pic of your design and there will be a Vote to determine which design is the winner.
I will build the blade and do a Picture history of the build.
Will also do some testing for cutting ability Etc.
A full scale drawing will be needed to get it right.
Winner will get Design credit for every knife made and maybe a nice surprise at the end of it all;)

All designs must be submitted by Midnight 03/14/2010
Moving the two drawings to the other thread for voting purposes

You caught me with my sketchpad out.

So, this is a fancy Graph Paper Aided Design.
Blade is 7.5",
Handle is 4.5",
Convex Ground...

I didn't finish all the contour shading... I forgot before I scanned and no one wants to see my bad paintshop shading. :|

EDIT, had to edit this 20 times, photobucket was being retarded.

I was working on a design for a parang a while ago but decided it was too big for my current skill level. I shortened it to a 7.5" camp knife (click for 200dpi full-size):

I tend to like flat grinds, but a convex would work too.
1/4" pins with a recess in the butt end of the slabs for the thong hole.

This sounds fun, gives me a chance to see if I hang hang with the big boys on the design side of things and if mine is pick I will be able to see someone else would bring my idea to life. I know what I will be doing tonight.

Here is my submission for idea considerations...
Hoping for a few More drawings
Please feel free to add ideas for design mods... Not to crazy about the handle on this one
