Most of those look like something out of a comic book and/or something that someone who has never used a knife might come up with.

More often than not, the design should dictate the materials.... not the materials determining the design. An exception would be something like a piece of stag or ivory (IMHO). :)

Can I vote mine? :p I honestly find it the most useable, even if I don't like the idea of voting my own... :(

Then let me second the motion and give yours #7 a vote as well for the exact reason that I actually could envision using your design. #9 as well but I like the look of #7 more.

Nice Nick :p - straight shootin'

Chenko you can vote for your own design
What is your vote Nick?... This is a voting thread

Sorry if I seemed rude... I would echo RogerP's sentiments about post 9, that is a very nice design.

The notion behind my prior post is an important one (IMHO) though. When I first got started in making blades, I would draw the dimensions of my steel on paper and then work within those confines (the engineer part of me).

Then when I started forging I realized I was setting limits on my work that just didn't need to be there.

A handle could drop, a point could be raised, etc... Then I realized it didn't matter if I was hammering on the steel or not... when I sit down with a piece of paper to draw up a knife, it's a poster size, and whatever comes out comes out... it's never limited to a certain sized piece of steel.

So my point??? Maybe do a thread where you just ask for the ultimate chopper design, and then pick the size of steel you need to make the knife you like the best out of those choices. :)

I think you would end up with a lot more great designs to choose from.

Ok, #7 for me then

Chenko

P.S.
What is a vote nick? I guess that is a dumb question, but I'm not 100% sure that justmy nickname is ok...

so, uh, how'd it go?

Less than half the votes needed to make this a viable project...
Maybe we can try again at a later date
