I used to carry an army surplus machete on my tractor when I was mowing the roads and the edges of the fields but found it too thin and lightweight to cut limbs efficiently. I made up a chopper similar to this one and found that the weight and edge geometry will usually carry through most cuts on the first swing; ever so much more fun.
