Chopping- how tough must you be?

My muscles are not my weak spot...it's the tendons I blew out in the past doing stuff I shouldn't have been doing. If I avoid quick intentional stops (yeah...like pulling punches), I can chop much longer before they start to wear out.

If I let the khukuri do the work (gravity) and sink each one deeply, I am comfortable for a long time.

This is my trouble. Especially using a large khuk on smaller limbs having to stop the blade really tears my tendons up.

That's why I often use a very sharp, but lighter khuk to chop instead of a heavy one. It takes a bit longer but it is much easier on my arm.

Also what Munk said it's important not to wail away first off and wear yourself out.

Hollow, you mean as the larger khuk comes to stop in wood, or when it breaks through and travels, that you hurt?

Breaks thru like when you are limbing and chopping. Also picking it back up out of the cut sometimes if it is an especially forward heavy model.

Yeah, I got it. You're asking your tendons to 'go backwards'. The set is forward, When you go the other direction, the pressure spots are in different places. For some reason, that hurts.

Mine hurt mainly due to scrolling thru medical records online all day with the mouse, then that sort weight on my tendons aggravates it.

I know I'm the new guy in town but i think pulling a Tom Sawyer is a good plan just make it look easy and fun and soon your neighbor or friend will want to try and chop with your new Khukuris and before you know it your work is done :)

Hilarious Dabel. You're probably right. He's trying to get us to chop his firewood. LOL. Damn cold loving mountain man.
