Chopsticks:old oriental way of eating or viable survival skill?

Actually, having a nice set of stainless steel chopsticks in your kit could come in quite handy for non-chopstick applications. One thing that instantly springs to mind is a pair of excellent skewers. Sure, you can carve them as well, but - aren't we really discussing personal preference and experience at this point anyway? If you don't like them, don't! If you do, do!
 
Well, mine aren't stainless, but Ti....love'em:D Also the plastic fork/spoon deal is a great stocking stuffer for the kids:thumbup: Although it's not a Ti Spork, Vargo's stainless one has the can opener on the back side...this is a great spork and actually replaced my Snow Peak Ti spork.

Now, even though I still carry a spork (and sometimes my Ti chopsticks), I still like to carve my own; plus it's good carving practice with my son. Additionally, you can make them a little fatter at the eating end so they're easier to "grasp" with and they also are better for stirring a pot. There's nothing I can't eat without my knife, chopsticks and spork!!!:D
