It wasn't until 2-3 months or more after the Pendulum came out that I learned that Carracci also designed a well-thought of knife -- if my non-sleep nite brain is working, the AFCK. Given some successful history, the price made a little more sense. But, my first impression was that it was grossly overpriced.

Obviously an edge for slashing. Doesn't offer much in the way of stabbing tho.

I don't kow about defensive applications, but the design would make an excellent ulu styled skinner.

My reason's:
1.recurved blade makes attacking a limb much easier and and efficent, you hook and then slash through. Hard to pull away from once in contact with the edge, without being cut and just plain better leverage, pull vs drawstroke.

2. My Harpy has serrations, which make painful, ripping cuts, not surgical clean cuts. Cost a lot less and about same size too.

3.With a Harpy you can attack with the tip to slash, allowing you to slash at full arm extension. Also makes going through tough things like leather much easier. A properly designed hawkbill can cut you twice once as you pull through recurve and the second at the recurved tip.

4.Finally it is recomended by Hannibal The Cannibal Lecter, a guy who know his stuff when it comes too..

p.s. Where is Frank Castle, he was the first to post about this subject months ago, and had first pic I saw of the Pendulum?

Well, I have'nt handled one myself, but from the pictures and the article I was not too impressed.
The actual cutting surface is only 3.25 inches, which seems alittle short for defensive purposes (IMHO)--especially since it can only slash. I suspect my Spyderco Rescue can do as well as a slashing defence blade (even though that's not what it is designed for).
And I also think it's alittle too expensive.

Good luck,
Allen.

Hi ya,

Just read the above. Well, GGG was suposed to have Chris C. personally get back to me with an explanation of the thing. No one ever got back to me. Why the $300 price tag? Got me to.

I wonder if many of those "things" have sold?. I am NOT very impressed, as this "thing" limits your modes of defense/offense too much.:barf:.

I'll take my monster REKAT Sifu in a "life-or-death" fight over that "Pendulum thing" ANYDAY!.:).

ya i think i'll stick w/my SIFU/AFCK/Crawford ti Kasper/BM 975SBT or...........well ya get the idea lol - i cant figure out why so much, at oh say 120 or so retail, i might would have to check it out, but $200+? sorry, i'll stick w/my matriarch/oh hell we already went there lol......

does ANYONE out there either own one, are actually seen one??

GGG does make a lot of trick stuff for AR15 type rifles, for sure, but they are all high $$ too, maybe its just GGG?

the designer chris carraci designed the BM AFCK my fav all around folder, i love my 800S, and only paid $60, soo.......i do like his work, for whatever thats worth, but i wanna talk to someone whos seen it, or knows WHY the cost........CF aint THAT high lol

I don't think his name is good enough to cover the high price either. Good design, unique, I guess it's well-made. I read the article with some interest, but when I saw the price tag, I made this face..:p .. and haven't looked at it since.

Designs background

I really wasn't impressed the first time I saw the Pendulum either. Being a non-tactical type person favoring a traditional fixed blade use knife of the skinning/utility variety.

Then, I had a chance to meet Chris, hold the knife, and hear the reasoning behind his design. Now I believe that the Pendulum is a more logical self-defense weapon/tool for a person such as myself. You will just have to talk to Caracci to understand.

I disagree that the price is out of line. Look at other colaboration/speciality designed knives. Of course, you buy what you what to buy and I will buy what I want to buy.

Hey I like it,
Damn sure wouldn't be my primary defensive blade
but I was just at a concert tonight and I would have
loved to have one with me.
As most of you though I have to agree at 300$ I don't
like it that much. Get it down to 100$ or Under and I'll
think about it.
Hoping the price falls.

It's a nice $ 125 knife.

My wife takes a different approach to knife tactics than I do and finds the Pendulum interesting.

It's the first knife in a long time where she's said, "Buy me one!"

Then I told her the price and she decided to stick with her push daggers.

I don't see why it should cost more than a Sifu or a high end Benchmade collaboration.

I would definitely buy one at a lower price. It looks like an excellent dedicated slashing implement.

I think it looks interesting and will seek out more info before deciding, without writing it off on looks and price alone...

This knife is by far the dumbest knife I've seen offered to the general public
in a very long time. It is so special purposed that it borders on being useless.
Sure It's great for slicing people but where I live the law frowns on that.
Not to mention that as knifenuts we have enough trouble convincing the
Joe Average's of the world that we aren't just one step away from being
terrorist ouerselves. Now this thing comes along (don't forget the ad
that hawks this thing) and we'er doubled dammned for sure. That and
(OH. Goody) there is a fourm for this thing on bladeforums now.
