You have to look at this. I love that the handle material is (Mike Ta) lol also its a straight knife not bent lol I also cant read the sheath but I don't think it says chris reeve. It looks like chris ruth or something. Frigging chines I cant believe eBay lets them get away with this. Ebay such whores like they dont make enough money as is they turn a blind eye to shit like this.

Ugh, don't get me started on eBay....
But I agree, this is not Aliexpress or fasttech, and they should have some accountability for stuff like that.

Please take action when you see these on ebay. Takes just a minute to, from the ebay page:
Report Item > Copyright and trademark > Counterfeit Item or authenticity disclaimer > Counterfeit, fake or replica items > Continue >
and type "This item is not a Chris Reeves knife, and infringes the"CR" trademark."

Ebay never does anything with the fake items. I have reported dozens of fake CR knives and they never pull them down.

eBay is a bunch of whores but I buy and sell there. I prefer to sell or buy on forums.

I no longer use the bay or paypal. If people selling here will not take my money orders or checks, that is their loss. :)

I contacted the seller about the fake knife. Here is his response:

hey dear
i dont lie !!! i write on title OEM !!i also add big title on description MADE IN CHINA !!
i m sorry if u didnt understand that
but know that i sold many knifes like this and the cosuomers were happy all the time
the quality is the best
thanks my friend

I wrote him back and told him again that he was the one that did not understand and that he was selling a product with a trademarked logo. He wrote back:

ok sear
i removed
but please tell me what do u care so mutch for chris reeve company ?

He did pull the ad.

I can confirm Ebay never does anything about fakes: I reported a fake Al Mar Grunt "Desert Storm Commemorative", which might still be on right now (I described every reason it was a fake), and they did nothing, even though the starting price is US $375, which is quite a more expensive loss to anyone who goes for it... Quality is close to actual, but the surface finish is noticeably inferior up close, and it is an obvious fake with the "combat" on the sheath and no red in the logo, so a serious, serious loss to any collector.

So the guy knows what he is doing is wrong but counting on peoples indifference and that he is in China. What a dick to ask what do you care blows my mind.

MY take on this, ................ he was open and said "made in China". At least he wasn't hiding the fact " fake". You have to be pretty dumb not to know it is not made by Chris Reeve. It could be of high quality, don''t know, don't care, but ................... advertising incorrectly to make a sale, to the dummies, not a good move.

The saddest part is the fact that there is a market for this kind of garbage at all....Sellers sell what people want, unfortunately most people like cheap crap.

not arguing, but honestly, there are a lot of people that view a plain Sebenza and like what they see, they then see the price and do not like what they see. A lot of these people are what I call "disposable buyers". They happily pay 20ish dollars for a knife that looks the way they want. It comes nice and sharp, and this makes them happy. They dont want cheap crap, they just dont understand the difference....and if you explain it, it is lost on them.

They carry the knife and use it occasionally (the way most people do). Over time they notice that the blade is not crispy sharp like it once was. They completely lack the ability to sharpen, nor do they care too...because their whim has moved on to a different look. (perhaps a knockoff of a tactical Spyderco?)

My point is, the idea of a knife for life is totally lost on some....they are the market for these fakes. The sad truth is, most of them probably would be fine with a more subtle ripoff that does not include the trademark...they dont know what CR is anyway.

It is a totally different paradigm to what we are into, but it is real, and that is how/why this stuff exists.

Why is the guy asking, "why do you care?" because he is honestly intrigued, because hundreds of thousands do NOT care. Doesnt make it right, it just is what it is.

I used to offer services professionally. I can not tell you how often I terminated a conversation because one of the following happened:
1. That is more than the knife cost!
2. I'd rather just spend that on a new knife.
3. The last guy charged me XX and his edge only lasted a few days!
4. You love knives, you ought to fix this for free!

It is all out there...we have a real luxury of being able to come here and understand one another clearly for the most part;)

This is spot on, and these are the same type people that think your time in providing services isn't worth anything, and they basically think everything should be free or just as cheap as their cheap $10 knife because precisely as you said, "that's as much as the knife costs" or "the local gun shop pulls it through their sharpener in 10 seconds for free and it's just as good".

These people really burn my ass.

I hate hunting camp sometimes, all my friends knives come out of the wood work. So now I make them do it while I watch and coach or it does not get done. One guy did not want to sharpen his own, I had done it in the past for him and he got kinda pissy when I said I would teach him but not do it. He never did get his knife sharpened the whole trip.

I have noticed that most of the time, reporting does exactly squat with Ebay..I had a case or two in the last year or two that lead me to believe this.

Makes more sense when you realize that Ebay makes money off of the sale..Not a surprise I guess. They may be more apt to remove such sales under the threat of litigation from the owner of Patents/Copyright holders directly. Some of the reporting can also seem to come from competition trying to edge out others.
Doesn't stop me from reporting when I catch it.
