Chris Reeve Green Beret KGguncote primer

Hi.
Does anyone know whether Chris Reeve knives apply primer or KG K-Phos before painting KG Gunkote when manufacturing Green Beret knives? In other words, is there a layer of primer or K-phos under the KG guncote? I have asked CR via email and not getting answer from them.
 
I dont know but i have a lot of experience with them, so what would I need to look for? would that primer be noticeable or would it blend with the coating?
