Hey all,

Curious on everyone’s opinion on Chris Reeve’s Insingo blade shape. How does it stand up to every day around the house tasks compared to a drop point? Pros/Cons?

Imo the insingo will outperform the dp in nearly every application. That’s not to say the dp is bad. It’s just the insingo especially in large sebenza is the most ideal shape and grind I’ve seen in any knife at any price. If you happen not to like it the resale is outstanding on all the chris reeve fb groups. It is more challenging to sharpen if you have any issues let me know I can hook you up

This is great to hear. I has assumed as much with what I’ve seen so far and I do have my eye on aInsingo bladed Large Inkosi that I’m hoping opinions here will drive me to pull the trigger. Would make my 4th CRK next to two Tanto and a DP ‘Zaan. ✊🏼👊🏼

I like my insingo. It's an excellent knife for EDC, opening boxes and cutting cardboard is this blades bread and butter. The wedge at the tip really makes it great! There is a reason utility knives are made in a similar shape.

The only place the knife isn't as good is cutting on a cutting board or skinning an animal.

That's the blade I'd been hunting for. Just landed one, courtesy of a gentleman on the exchange. It fits what I call the 'intention' of the handle much better than the drop point.

MrStabby7 MrStabby7 my general at home use is cutting up boxes, opening mail and packages and food prep. I did see a video of someone using an Insingo blade for food prep and it looked like it worked wonderfully for cutting up vegetables and fruits.

Yeah, I mean it works fine it just seems like you would always be dragging the tip. I'd rather have a knife with more belly.

I used to not like the design, then after seeing so many pics here and everyone saying how much they liked the blade, I decided to pick one up. Been hooked every since. You really don’t know how useful the insingo blade is until you have one and use it.

I enjoy both and carry the Insingo often. However, I regard the PM2 as having one of the most universally useful blade shapes for EDC, and took this picture a while back to illustrate the similarity with the DP Sebenza.

FWIW...

The Inkosi is fine I have a couple of them in insingo. But it’s a much different grind on the insingo blade. The hollow grind stops at the thumb studs where the Sebenza goes well past the studs. This amounts to a much longer sharpening choil. In other words

That’s a great choice can’t go wrong if you already like the Umnumzaan. I have two inkosi insingos but if I was forced to choose I’d go with the Sebenza insingo. 31 or 21 is the same. With the Inkosi you end up with a thicker stronger blade but less sharpening choil. I don’t like the trade off personally. But I guess there’s a reason I have all of them 😂

You took the words out of my mouth the Inkosi needs more belly to be perfect if you look at a large Sebena insingo it’s there and definitely makes a difference

I own two large Inkosi's one with black micarda inlays the other is the plane jain model, and both will do most any job in the house or in the yard, its a work knife and will not disappoint I would say there are no cons.

For a long time I was an Insingo blade guy. I was convinced it was superior to the drop point in every way. But a few years ago something in my brain clicked (on or off, I'm not sure which), and I came to the realization that the drop point reigns supreme. Long live the drop point!
