Chris Reeve Knives

Something that doesn't get mentioned much when talking about Chris Reeve knives is the blade finish. In my opinion they are gorgeous. Finished perfectly.

I took the plunge on a small Sebenza a while back and loved it, until I got my small Inkosi which I love more.

I agree. For my profession there nothing better than this hollow ground blade. At first I thought a FFG would be choice so I bought a PM2. God was I wrong was handled the Sebenza is a real world setting

Just one person's point of view, but after trying several other brands, I took the plunge on a small sebenza 14 years ago and I have never looked back.

Fit, finish, and materials are outstanding. What sets it apart for me is the combination of zero blade play, light weight, solid lick up, ability to clean assembled, ability to easily do a total take down for a more thorough cleaning, great blade designs, warranty, and if needed, after sales service.

I'd bet there are other great folders out there, but the Sebenza gets so much right, I'm just sticking with CRK.

WRT which one, I just have two at this point. The Small Plain Insingo works great as an EDC. I'm going to "upgrade" from my Small Plain Drop Pount to a Small Micarta Drop Point for my primary day hike and back-up off trail backpacking knife as soon as I get the $ together.

I am really bonded with Umnumzaan.

I was reluctant to try out a CRK knife for a long time. I got good Spydies and a midtech before grabbing one of CRK knives. They did not really appeal to me. I finally decided to get one just to see and got Umnumzaan just because it was readily available. I immediately see why their knives are so much appreciated. This was after I experienced a Southard Tolk. I guess you have to handle one to understand. This experience made me to buy a small Sebenza, which unfortunately work fine with me. I still have so much love to Umnumzaan even now having a custom grail knife.

Good luck.

The CRK is tough enough to take into a combat situation where your butt is on the line. It is one of the proven knife manufacturers out there.

Look at it this way when considering the economics, I did. If you spring for a $400 Umnumzaan, and you carry it for 50 years, what is your annual cost? That's right! It is $8 per year for a top tough quality knife. And yes, the knife will easily last for 50 years with good service.

Now, how can you complain about the price of a CRK, or any other top quality knife that you will keep for a long time and pass onto the grandkids? You can't.

Well I did it. Ordered a standard 21 yesterday. Anxious to get it in hand and experience it myself. Thanks to all of you who helped push me off this cliff. Invoices will be sent out to you shortly to help defray the cost! As soon as I get it and have a little time to gret a feel for it I'll post my thoughs and either curse you all for encouraging me to buy it or me taking so long to discover and take the plunge. Seriously, I do appreciate all or your input.

Just to give you some heads-up, the very first impression may not be that favorable. But trust me, things will glow and grow in you over a short period of time.

Any word on the 0055?

So your saying this knife is like Faith No More the band... A first your like "do i like this?" then after a few listens your like "how did
I go without this for so long?"

I never owned a seb , thinking of picking a sebenza insingo large up some day. good part is they are easy to sell if i dislike it. :-)

As if you care a lot.
Anyway, if you were commenting on my post, yes it was like that for me. I took some time for me to understand the marvel of Umnumzaan, fit and finish, the handle texture, the heftiness, the blade grind, the stop pin/thumb rug, the o-ring, the ceramic ball detent/lock face, and how they all work together to create the overall excellence. It's the real thing.

For me, the basic Sebenza is butt ugly and the big one is too clunky. All my personal opinion, but when I found the small, that was the perfect size, but still butt ugly.

When I found you can get them with a polished blade, a graphic and anodized color...I waited over a year and shopped the brick and mortar stores so I could pick the graphic and get one that fit me. I've had it for about 6 years now and its a favorite...don't buy no ugly knife :)

It's arrived!! I've had it in hand about an hour now so this certainly isn't a comprehensive and thorough evaluation but I am quite pleased with both the knife and my decision to get one. Got it used from a member here on the forum. Transaction could not have gone better. Honest, patient, and personable.

First impressions. It's not flashy or embellished but it's not unattractive. It feels good in the hand and operation is as smooth or flawless as humanly possible. Built like a bank vault. Love the blade. Taken within the context of its design parameters and intended function and use I don't see how I could find fault. Simple elegance and flawless execution. I certainly need to carry it a while and use it to come to a full appreciation of its attributes or shortcomings.

Thank you all again for your thoughts and insights.

Ummmmmmm no pics????
Blasphemy!! Sacrilege!!!
You're new so we won't suspend your posting privileges, but straighten up sir!!
:D:D
All kidding aside, you chose well and I'm sure you will enjoy it for years to come!!

Love my 21, beautiful and the quality is certainly there. However I haven't pushed it hard enough so I cant comment on the material quality.

I've had my Zaan in my pocket for the last couple of wks, and just today exchanged it for my large Classic Sebbie. I've had many nice folders, but none ever could hold a candle to my CRK's. It's a struggle to know which CRK to carry...the Zaan, the Regular or the Classic. Love 'em all.

Congrats! Pics or I didn't happen..plus the knife isn't yours till you break it down completely and reassemble :thumbsup::D

^ You've had your Sebbie for a couple of weeks now; are you still happy with your decision?
My man..I couldn't be happier. I think my favorite part about the knife is when you close it and you hear that little "ding" when the detent ball pops into the blade, it's glorious haha. Not to mention I'm a very hands on type of dude, so the fact that I can very very easily take down this knife/clean/put it back together like new is just phenomenal in my eyes.

On the flip side ..I think the Sebbie is where I draw the line in my collection. (I hope)
