the shots are taken w/ a makeshift lightbox. i had a thread about it here:

you just need some good, strong, diffused lighting, a consistant background, and some patience. i used a 105mm macro lens, a tripod, and the timer to take the shot at somewhere around f/22. using a circular polarizer helps reduce any glare that might appear or the satin finish.
