I am ready to step up to the plate and get my first Chris Reeve knife. I thought that I was all ready to go- I had decided on a Sebenza in the small size, but I did not know that they two different models- the Plain and the Classic 2000.

Which do you guys prefer between the Plain and the Classic 2000?

Any and all help is appreciated.

I have the small plain, my next will be the classic.

You really can't lose either way. Excellent knives.

I have found the small to be th perfect size for EDC. I also have a large plain, but it is the small that gets EDC honors.

I have the small plain and enjoy using it. Most people prefer the small classic, though.

The Classic 2000 (large or small) has more "relief" for the index finger, which many feel gives the user a more secure grip. This is a very individual thing and I'd suggest, if possible, to handle each.

As stated above, you can't lose with either. Good luck.:)

Welcome Bauhaus. Is that Bauhaus as in the 80's British goth band, or the German art institute? I'm partial to the standard Sebenza, but which ever model you choose, it's is a marvel of a knife. Good luck deciding.

I like the large better. I would also recommend handling them. I liked the small regular profile better, but that is very subjective. I had two of the small ones. They were just too small for me. 1/4"-1/2" more handle and it would have been perfect. I own the large plain. Can't beat it. I was also wondering if that was the old band or not. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies- keep them coming!

bahaus is in reference to the German art/design school/movement. But, I am familiar with the band and am actually a fan. Purely a conincidence.

I like the regular sebbie (non-classic) just a little better. I also like the movment and love the band.

While the handle differences are there, I feel the blade shapes to be more significant. You'll noticed that the classic has a pointier tip. I find a pointy tip to be quite handy on many occasions.

and say LARGE. But if it is a small you want then go with the Classic. For a while I wouldn't have anything to do with the Classics, now they are all I have!:D

HAven't been able to find fault with it yet, except for the fact that I wish I'd gone with a decorated one.

I have a small regular which I carry everyday. I have handled a small classic on two different occasions. I find the regular to be a tad more comfortable and the classic to be more secure. The classic is also easier to unlock, but I don't have a problem unlocking my regular. I also like the looks of the regular more than the classic.

I love the small Sebenza - I think that it's the most knife in a small package that you can find. I have a large regular, but my two smalls (one regular, one classic) get much more use. Choose between the regular and classic models? Well, the classic is more comfortable in the hand, due to the larger thumbstud cutout. However, I find the regular blade style to be just a little bit more aesthetically pleasing. The bottom line, though, is that you really can't go wrong with either one. Or, do as I did: buy both!

Now there is a man after my own heart! When in doubt buy BOTH!:D   Nathan you are so right!:D :D

Another unsolicited vote for Large, and I like the beefier blade on the plain.

(I've said "beefier" all my life, but it just doesn't look right in print...)

Purchasing both is inevitable :D

Go Large ! ;)

But. . .if ya have to settle on a small. . .it really doesn't matter which one you get ! :D

But. . .if you were danglin' from a shear cliff and my vote meant savin' your life. . .

I'd vote on the Classic. . .just so that you could come back here and tell us what you finally got ! :p
