Hey All,

So I have been trying to find the right folder for EDC, and I just cannot find it. First I picked up a BM Skirmish, and its freaking huge so I have to get rid of it. I have been contemplating biting the bullet and upgrading to a CR Umnumzaan. I can't afford to buy it brand new, i.e. Poor and too much tied up in Microtechs.

So I have been searching and I found a user for $270 that is in fantastic shape, no serious wear and tear. Should I fire sale a few items to purchase it?

Anyone have any experience with this knife?

Anyone that knows me, knows how much I LOVE the umnumzaan. It is my EDC. Not my main EDC, but my EVERY day carry. It is never out of reach.

Buy it. I wrote a thank you to Chris Reeve regarding the umnumzaan in a thread here (should only be a page or two back) if you wanna know just why I love it so much. :)

Cheers!

It's a good knife at msrp IMHO , but at that price point it's a steal if you don't want it let me know where to send the money for it !

I have a startac umnum; it carries great, has a very useable cutting edge, ergonomics are right, and after five months of semi-often use I havnt even had to touch it up. Its one of the few knives that i doubt I will ever sell. Then again, if i had a nickel.. Cheers mate, i say pull the trigger!

I just bought my 3rd Umnumzaan. I say jump on that one, that's a good price for the knife IMO. :)

Yes! No question. Outstanding knife at an unbelievable price. Jump on it.

I'd be surprised if it hasn't been sold to someone else between the time you posted the question and now. That's a fantastic price. Even if you ended up not liking it, you could likely sell it for more, so it's a win-win. What did the others say? Oh yeah,...buy it!

Buying it then!!!!! already reducing prices on other items i have up. Thanks all!!!!!

The one in the photos looks like it has a regrind on it to me. (I could be wrong, haven't held but one Umnumzaan, and that was a few months back.)
It is a great price and you can sell if you don't like it and not lose any money I would think.

I didn't vote. I love my StarTac 'zaan - but I love my BM 630 Skirmish, etc, too. I guess I would base my answer on what had to go in the 'fire sale' to fund that great buy you mentioned. Perhaps to help compare the 'zaan/Skirmish, I have included the only picture I have with both of them:

I'd think my sales over carefully - that 'zaan is nice... but so is the Skirmish!

You are not going to find a better deal than that!

I used to love the Seb the best until I discovered the zaan and it quickly became the top!

The only suggestion I would have is I myself would be very leery buying a zaan on the secondary market after hearing about all the idiots out there adjusting the lockbar and who knows what else they've been doing.
You might buy it and have to send it right to Crk and them they will fix you up with a n over-extension slab.

But if you can get over that it is the best knife I've ever had the chance to handle and use. an get over that it is the best knife I've ever had the chance to handle and use.

I am really leery of buying it on the secondary market, the guy is actually going to send me some better photos tonight. So once I get these I will post them up to get everyone's opinion. What is going into the fire sale is a BM Skirmish, a few MTs, and anything else I need to sell.

I want the knife, but need to make sure I don't get shafted. You can never know with buying from someone else that is halfway across the country. and to be honest, my area of expertise, aaahhhhummm.... knowledge lies in MTs and Benchmades. So its hard for a new comer to CR Knives to know if something is a good deal or not. I really appreciate the feedback though.

A little backstory if anyone is interested: I am moving to Europe soon and need to scale what is left of my collection down to just a few choice items. i.e. several EDCs, one fun paper weight, etc. So my plan is this so far, while Autos are pretty illegal where I am going, I want to take a few. My plan is this:

EDC: 2 Folders (IN the running is the following: Skirmish, Mini Skirmish, a CR Knife)
Autos: One MT OTF, Benchmade 9100 that has the daylights used out of it (Sentimental value as gift from my dad),
