Started looking at some Slip Joints lately and came across a few from Chris Sharp that looked amazing. Haven’t seen much discussion about him here. In my novice opinion, seems like he’s right up there with some of the greats in terms of fit and finish. I especially like the see through escutcheon he has on some of his designs. Although those are really expensive. Example in pic of one I would die for.View attachment 2040528

I’ve seen maybe one person posting pics of theirs on here, so just curious if there’s a following or if some of the experts on traditionals have any thoughts on this designer.

Gorgeous knives and he makes some incredible damascus. I'd say he's right up there with some of the best makers. GusSharp68 are you related? 😁

I'd be a nonstop buyer if I could afford 'em. The shields are really unique, I understand he patented the process. Here are two with barbed wire damascus that have actual barbed wire shields (or I guess a better word for these is estucheons as GusSharp68 mentioned). Too cool and incredibly beautiful knives!!

I saw a few currently available, one in CPM 154 that’s “reasonable” but doesn’t have see through shield or damascus and is in micarta, but the liners are hand engraved. The one I posted a pic of is for sale too but dang expensive. I’d have to off load a few things from my collection. So tempting.

Beautiful workmanship.

Saw in the “totin’” thread you carry it. Glad to see that. That is a lifetime of joy!

Really remarkable, exquisite craftsmanship.

Congratulations Gus! 👍

Must have been asleep at the wheel — just stumbled upon this thread for the first time. Love the examples posted here!

I have one of Chris’s knives. I think the integrated shield is really innovative and unique…

That is beautiful!

I really admire his ingenuity and artistry. Being somewhat of a musician myself, I could not resist the temptation to acquire this congress. It is more than I’ve ever spent on a knife and I have no regrets. It is a masterpiece in my opinion. Like that example a lot and the Pickbone too. Great Stag and blades, I assume it's single-spring, so how's the action? good snap etc?

Aesthetically, don't like those shields at all even if it is his 'hallmark' but I'm certain you can order them without a shield or a more sober one, it's just a bit too Steampunkish for my taste :Do_O Like the Rat-Tails he does, always a good sign. Congratulations to all the new owners, an exciting talent:cool:

Thanks, Will

The Congress is indeed a single spring. Decent action, probably a 6 or 7. The blades are really thin though. Seems like there’s a tiny bit of blade rub.

I found this for sale but it’s more than I can spend. Looks like both large and small are available. I have to assume these are one of a kind like the two I recently acquired.

I ended up buying the large one, just waiting for delivery. I guess I'm officially a Chris Sharp fan this will be my third.
