Brendan, I really like Ang Khola's, the blade shape is pleasing to my eye. I also like them because the AK is a "do anything knife". I chop with mine, slice, hack through brush, prepair food, pry, hammer and tons of other things. The blade is wider than most other knives which gives it a longer life and makes for an overall stronger blade.

I think I like wood handles the best because they seem to be more stable and don't need as much care as horn. I only have one wood handle that is cracked and I bought it that way and most of my horn has small cracks in them. The AK I use most has a horn handle and it has proven to be extreemly tough! The cracks have never caused any of my handles to fail ever, they are mostly just cosmetic.

I also like the WWII for use as well. It is usually a little lighter than the AK's but can do as much in most cases. You also might look at a BAS too. It is a wonderfull khukuri if you want to carry it for long camping/hiking trips. The 18-20 inch AK's or GRS's would be the best to chop and do heavy work if you are not going to have to go far. I find myself always picking up my 15 inch AK first because it is such a great size and it really is big enough to do very heavy work!

Do your homework and you will find yourself looking at one khukuri the most and but that one!:) Or you can take Uncle Bill's advice and get the 15 inch AK!:) You just can't go wrong my friend!!:)

No problem! I just wish I could type faster. My post above took me 20 min to type! Than I could get into some of these longer more detailed conversations!:( :)
