Its. Christmas afternoon here, and I can list my precious treasures finally.

Present one: an IOU for a new budo Gi from Bujin design. The fabric was unavailable, so the gi wont be delivered for another two weeks.

Present two: a pair of hand-made, custom-fitted black kangaroo leather tabi from Gaspar Del Rey. no more ill-fitting cloth tabi for me!

Present Three: a dress shirt made out of a chinese lion-dog print. really cool

Present four: a miniature antique-style japanese folding knife. (keyring) but real.

Present five: a new silk bag to carry my shuriken in.

I have received more presents in the past, but the truth is that I asked my family to forgo giving me presents and help me give Takako a laptop for Christmas, which we did. It was awesome to be able to give someone a really nice, big present like that. (Dell Inspiron 2200)

Merry Christmas to all and Enjoy your families.

PS - I havent cheated on my diet ONCE this season and I dont intend to.

I got a whole bunch of household items from my coworkers and folks for the new house I just bought. Utensils, soaps, a crockpot, wastebaskets, etc. An uncle of mine is sending me a set a pots and pans as well.

Good on you Danny for Takako's present and your dieting diligence. My dieting/exercise went a tad too and I wouldn't mind a few more pounds. Tis the season at least. ;)

Guys...I'm up a creek.
I had a talk with the wife on what we would do this Christmas. The decision was ...no presents for each other. We would get something for both of us or the house. Something like a new digital camera ( old one broke) or new carpet. We'd get it when the after Christmas sales kicked in.
We agreed, darnit!!

Now I'm sitting here at 4 a.m. looking at a large heavy gift wrapped package that has my name on it right in the middle of the living room.
I'm in trouble guys...:o What was I thinking!

It was back ordered and didn't make it here...maybe next week. Think she'll believe that one?
nope, me neither.

Go get as many decent gifts as you can find in the ladies section of the nearest 24 hour supermarket.
dont forget to stuff stockings with magazines she might like.
Next, get up early and make a big breakfast.
Then take her shopping!

Shappa, I had a co-worker that almost fell into the same trap... I awakened him to cold reality before it hit. Think quick, my friend. If nothing else, give her all the love and attention in the world today, a massage, print computer "coupons" for services, like house cleaning, cooking (you may already be doing the cooking), massage, Etc. Try to make something.. she will probably get a grin while you writhe in pain :-) good luck!
(Can you wrap up a khuk?)

Oops forgot about my booty. It was pretty uneventful. My first season of real "Dad gifts". I got pajamas, a shirt, pants, slippers. But, each present was custom delivered by my little munchkins so it was great.

I did get myself a few gifts last night though! I bought a double edged straight sword, Tai Chi type from Paul Chen. I found a decent deal on one online. Along with a "Ghost Head" rope dart and a Fei Biao Flying Dart. All are Chinese in origin, but you see their influence all over Asia. Even in Japan, which is known for curved swords has Fudo holding the double edged straight sword. It's like the rapier of the east.

I'm gonna bite the bullet and get a few misc. cycling supplies too. I've been riding a lot in the last few months. 40 miles on Friday. I'll do probably 20 miles today and another 40 tomorrow.

Merry Christmas, y'all!

Christmas "booty" ---I was afraid to open this one:eek: :D I didn't get any booty for christmas...yet;) :p

Got a pair of mukluks that I had been wanting for awhile:thumbup:

I got some nice shirts and a casual jacket, homemade foods from my nephew and niece, a mexican mortar and pestle (I like to cook), an electronic organizer, a bottle of tequila, a gift of money to get a safe, and lots of love. I recieved less gifts this year, and had a much better time. All the extended family was fun to be around, as it should be (but usually isn't :( ). That was the best gift of all! Oh, and Ms. Santa brought the Christmas bootie;)

Today we will be having Christmas with the extended inlaw family. It used to be fun, but there has been 4 deaths in the last 4 years or so and the family dynamics have really changed. :( I pray that maybe this year things will start getting back to "normal".

Merry Christmas to all of you!

I scored the Firefly Complete Series DVD set, the Serenity DVD (coming in the mail) and a decent raise at work :)

Other than chipping a Durba blade this morning on the dog's present, it has been a great day!

Merry Xmas everyone!!!

My son and I share the Warcraft battle chest, I've got my 89 dollar leather coat, and a busted single shot .22 mag at the Savage factory. I got a ceramic dish/plate thing from one of my sons- he made it at school. Cool.

I got a French throwing 'hawk with two spare handles; an Arkansas oilstone; a copy of The Quest For Cosmic Justice by Thomas Sowell; an undisclosed gift that was on backorder and will arrive sometime next week; and best of all, a phone call from my oldest son in Poland to wish us a Merry Christmas.

That's a handful of good stuff, Raghorn. If I were to judge a man's character by the gifts from those closest to him, you would be in good stead, and so would your family and friends.

Well, if you're hesitant and vague, I guess it isn't a remarkable booty. I believe some ancient symbols, long held by mankind, might better illustrate booty:

Jordy spent the night, and I was up before her, in the computer room. I heard her get out of bed, and the sounds of tape being applied, and figured she had decided to wrap the gift I knew she had brought with her.

When she called me into the bedroom, "Happy Birthday John" was on the wall in foot-high letters made of various colors of construction paper.

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D

What'd I get?

Three contented boys and an exhausted wife (napping right now).

Couldn't be prouder...

 I like her style:D

Well,
She got the massage and used up all the coupons..wink, wink.

She gets all my attention everyday we are together. I do all the cooking and the cleaning already.
Coffee is brewing while she's in the shower.
I ordered her something over the net and printed out the reciept. That will go in a nice card.

I might be able to squeek out of this one....

If you're in a relationship it will happen, how you handle it makes the difference.

But we agreed! No gifts! :)

Lots of great gifts. Some great hiking gear and climbing gear. My girlfriend got me some really nice gifts, including a GREAT cigar and a shirt from Thailand that says "we will fight for the king" in Thai (her folks are Thai, and her dad just visited Thailand). Cool stuff!

Sharp pointy highlights:

-15" BAS by Sher. Really lightweight, just like I requested. Something like 19 oz. Very light, and very fast. Honestly, this Khuk is speaking to me unlike any of my others. Right out of the newspaper packing, it felt made for my hand. Its satisaal handle is like an extension of me. It jumps into the cuts and slices like nobody's business.

Also, very beautiful. The handle is exceedingly well-finished, the lines are amazing, and the sword of shiva is inlaid with brass! Didn't know they did that! :D :) Overall Amazing. I'd go so far as to call this my favorite khuk, out of the box. I can't wait to try it out fully, but from the feel, I already know it's exactly what I want in a knife. Thank you, Yangdu.

-An antique knife from Turkey, I believe. My grandparents gave it to me. It has about a 5" blade, and comes in a really cool carved wood scabbard with a brass catch to secure the blade. Looks like a combination between a number of designs, with a slightly mid-eastern sweep to the blade (reminiscent of a single-edged jambiya), and a neat brass guard. Very nice!

But the best gift was just being home with those I love. No matter what material things do or do not come, it's the people who will always make the day.

Merry Christmas, everybody. Be well and safe. Enjoy your pointy things and your time with those you love. :)
