The Buck tins arrived this morning at my local WM. I'm not interested in the "Colleague/Nobleman" set, but I did buy the Toothpick set and they are nice.

Strong snap on all blades, and no play in any of them either.

Like these a lot, I'm a southpaw, and both models, the main blade stands up enough I can open them by pinching the blade between my thumb and forefinger, and open it without using the nail nick, and the larger one, the secondary blade is nail nicked for leftie opening already.

These are already all over on Ebay. I got a set without the tin for under $20, and I agree with your assessment of the knives. I especially like the larger one, the 388. It's a good size, fits nicely in my hand, and is just right for everyday pocket use. I also am a fan of rosewood, so that was an attraction for me. I'm viewing mine as usable everyday knives, not for their potential as a possible future collectibles, even though it says "Special Edition" on the blades. I can't imagine a Chinese Buck ever being considered collectible. Of course, when Japanese guitars came around in the 60's, they were considered junk, whereas now they are highly collectible. Ya never know.
Funny though, these are dated 2014, but the "Special Edition" sets, and the 388 knife itself isn't even listed on Buck's website. Guess it's just "special" to Walmart. Special or not, a decent set of knives for a decent price.

I also picked up the WM set of toothpicks. I like them a lot and while I usually don't buy the chinese line it fit a need I had to have knives for a PC overseas trip I was taking. I like them but if I lost/gave them away I would be fine with it. Reminds me, need to unpack to see if someone stole them from my luggage. I like the larger one a lot.

I've been using the large 2 blade Toothpick since I bought it, it's quickly becoming one of my favorite slipjoints.
