The Syderco is indeed thicker with better contouring to fit the hand ( very nicely I may add!) Didn't measure, but blade thickness is about the same. Spyderco is significantly heavier but well balanced. Leather sheath is well made, but I dislike the internal plastic insert. They should have omitted it , the sheath can handle it as it's so thick. I may remove it if possible if it gives me re-sheathing issues , ie; blade lining up with insert as opposed to knife tip sticking beside it. I will make another sheath for it eventually ,but as it comes it's very serviceable and like I stated, well made and very thick.
I highly recommend this knife as a dedicated bushcraft use blade.
